They have a bedbug infestation throughout the entire building and will not tell you before moving in. When we removed our mother, she had 30+ bedbug bites all over her body. We had to leave all of her belongings behind and bought all new furniture and clothes for a new senior independent apartment. They also have a mold issue. The amenities that they promise are not totally provided. DO NOT MOVE YOUR LOVED ONES THERE!

What a fabulous facility! My parents are very happy at Lakeview and we couldn’t be more pleased. We had great references that said nothing but positive things. They are all true. It has been such a great experience to have them there. The staff is incredible and they are kind caretakers. So thankful!

I visited Fair Haven nursing home for mom. I did not have a very good experience there. I had made arrangements for them to meet me there several times, and I don't think they were very organized at all. There's some untidiness to the facility, but the outside looked very well kept. Inside, there were some things that could've been picked up a little bit better. I don't want to put them down on that because it could be shortage of help or whatever. The nurse who gave me the tour was excellent; she was a "five." The admissions coordinator was a "three" because she would not return calls, and I had to run her down for information. In fact, I don't think the admissions person even works there anymore. My mom was actually there for rehab before she tried to transition into the nursing home. The food was adequate. The value for the money was satisfactory. Their admissions office is just lacking in communication and responsiveness. Two other residents had contacted me because they had a family member on the same floor as my mom, and no one from the admissions office was communicating with them. That was right when COVID started last year, and I'm sure they were shorthanded, but still, communication was very bad and follow-up was very bad.

I went to Somerby At St. Vincent's. It was a wonderful reception. The lady that I had planned to meet got tied up, but apparently they were two there who did tours, and the other staff was great. He and I had a lot in common; we've been into a lot of the same places. That made me feel real at home. The rooms were well done, they were very open. It's also a newer place. It is more expensive, but it is very lovely. Everything was lovely there. Everything was great. I had a meal there. They were thoughtful enough to do that, and that tells me that they really care about everybody. It was fresh fruits and it was their recipe for chicken salad. It was very good, but the cheesecake was not good. They have all of the amenities and a free membership to what's like a health club. They are also across the street from St. Vincent Hospital, which means if you ever have an emergency you'd be right there at the hospital. I like the way the rooms are arranged circularly. I can look out and see the street on one side and something else on another. I didn't feel at all shut in. They have a lot of interesting activities that I might like.

I love Town Village Vestavia Hills; this community is amazing. They have a movie theater, they have a volunteer center, library, and dog park, and everywhere there's a coffee shop and a cafe. All the activities for the week are posted on the board. I saw that they were taking gifts somewhere and they were all in a room somewhere wrapping them. The apartments that I saw there were very good-sized, very clean, and updated. This place was probably my favorite. I also walked into their dining hall and it looked great.
