We were seriously considering Desert Winds as a place to move into. In looking at the people that are there, it looks like they're happy people, and they're glad to be there. It seemed to be a good community to live in. The other places were just not very happy people. We found Desert Winds to be good. They had renovated the rooms that we were looking at. They had painted it and re-carpeted it. They had it pretty well done. So that was another aspect of it that was very nice. It was almost brand new. The staff member who assisted us was very good as far as showing us the place. However, one thing I would reconsider about it is that you have to walk a long way if your apartment is far away from the dining room. They have hairdressing and a salon inside the building. You don't have to leave the place, you just go down to the store to buy things. To get around, they also use a golf cart system that moves you around the community. They have specific time set-up for transportation to doctors' appointments and to stores. You have to plan your traveling and your doctors' appointments. Two meals are included. If you choose to have two meals, that adds to the cost of the apartment that you choose. There's a move-in cost, but Desert Winds is probably the least expensive.
