Desert Rose is a very large three-story building with about 125 apartments. It's a very nice community, but they didn't have 24-hour staff members. They issue every resident an emergency pendant, but they don't have any managers on staff late at night. But this pendant would get us help anywhere in the country, so it's adequate. The food in the dining area was good, although not as good as where we are now. They have every activity that we're interested in, they have quite a bit of live entertainment, dancing, various games, and field trips. It was just a very good place that kept us busy. If I go back to Arizona this is where I would live. The staff was excellent, I would like to rate the cleanliness a five, but the layout a three. The price is less expensive compared to Northern Illinois.

Desert Rose was really very nice, warm, and friendly, and people seemed to really be enjoying themselves. I had lunch in their very nice dining room. We had a choice of three different things, and everything was delicious. I would live there, but I can't at this time. They had bingo, a swimming pool, art classes, parties, and open houses, numerous things, and everything you can think of. They had lots of people there, and the rooms were very nice. They had a one-bedroom apartment, two-bedrooms, and studios, and I was very impressed with everything. I thought the amenities were really good.

Desert Rose was fantastic. The people were very friendly, informed, and they really made us feel that we were welcome. They showed us both 1- and 2-bedroom apartments on the first and second floor. They serve three meals a day and they have an area where you can pick up snacks and coffee in between meals. Residents also have the opportunity to choose from the menu various different types of entrees, desserts, and salads. Every time I go there, I am more and more impressed with the staff members.

My father moved into Desert Rose. The staff is really nice. He likes the people, his accommodations, and the food. He's meeting new friends and having a good time. They have a wide variety of amenities and activities. He likes karaoke, and they have movies on Saturdays, music, and some events in the atrium, which is at the center of the building. He has some people there that he shoots pool with. There's a bunch of other things he's gradually getting involved in. His room is very clean. Everything works well, and it's just the right size for him. They're doing a good job. The facility is good, and I never see any issues with it. It's very clean and very well kept, and they have a couple of companies on each level that provide additional nursing if required. The grounds are good and well kept. The assistant manager, who is from the Philippines, is very nice, very personable, and takes direct action on any issues. They do a good job with the activities, which everybody seems to be happy with. He's going on 93 and still has a car, which is parked there. He felt more at home at Desert Rose. It is very open on the inside of the three-story building, and he liked it because he can see everything and people coming and going.

I was very impressed with Desert Rose, especially Hailey, who took us around. The people there were very kind, very open, very patient, and answered all my parents' questions. It turned out to be a very positive experience for them, so they signed the contract. The food was very tasty, warm, and the wait service was very good. The whole place was so bright with a lot of daylight.

Desert Rose was very pleasant, and the facilities were quite nice. The people seemed to be nice as well. It was just quite simply out of my range financially. Most of the rooms were running around 500 square feet and they have one that was 800 and I liked that, but at $2,350 a month, there's no way I could do that. It would've been great for me because it's right across the street from where I attend church. I met one lady and she was very pleasant and very nice, and several of my friends at church live there and they just love it. They speak very highly of all the wait staff, the cooks, and the people that do the cleaning and everything. The cleanliness and the maintenance are fine, but some of the decor needs to be updated. The location was absolutely ideal for me and the amenities were everything I was looking for.

Desert Rose is very nice and clean. It smells good. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. The main area is clean. That's what I like, and that's what I'm looking for.

Desert Rose was just independent living, but they had another company on-site that did assisted care, so people can age in place there. The place was nice, but it had some older feel to it. The carpeting was faded and it felt more like an old folk's home, but considering the price, it was nice. The rooms were decent. The people there seemed very nice, and they had activities. It had a hospital smell throughout the building, but it was still a good facility. They had walking paths outside and community areas, and the layout was good.

Desert Rose seems to be pretty pleasant. The staff and the residents are friendly. The food is absolutely excellent. They have a chef that is just beyond words. My father has put on probably five or ten pounds since he moved there. They have a pretty good range of activities and he seems to be relatively happy there. He has memory issues and his mobility is not the best in the world, so he uses a cane or a walker, but he gets around and walks around the grounds. The place is quite nice. There are two house groups there. One is the pink ladies and there is another group that offers escort services and medical alerts. We got a pill dispenser there that we fill up and they take him his medicine in the morning and at night. They have some people that help him put on his socks when he needs help with that. Those are services not provided by the Desert Rose, but by vendors on-site. They have laundry machines on each floor as well.

Desert Rose seems to be going downhill, and the managers don't seem to care. My mom's room is fine. It was probably a 4 rating on the room itself. The facility was kind of rundown. The staff seem friendly enough, but the managers are uninterested. It seems like they are cutting back on food expenses, and their variety is very limited. I asked Mom what was for Christmas dinner, and she said a dried out pork chop. They have bingo, arts and crafts, and exercise. It's $1,000 a month less expensive, so that makes up for something.

I saw some of the rooms in the independent living part of Desert Rose. They were very nice, and the residents can do anything they want with them if it will make them more comfortable. The staff there were good folks. I ate dinner with them, we had the same meal served to everybody, and it was good. It's a hotel-type community, but that's not what I was looking for.

Desert Rose is nice and gives you a good impression, but it probably needs a little update since it looks a little old. We saw one room that provides a little kitchenette. They have a game room and a library. I think it's a good option and it looked like a safe and nice place for older people.

I'm living at Desert Rose, and the best thing about it is that the people are very nice. I have a studio and it's nice and clean. The dining room is really pretty, but the food could be better. They have Bingo. They're getting new management, so I'm hoping that it takes care of some of the problems.
