My mother is in memory care at the Abor Hall of Carson Senior Assisted Living. Our experience has been good. Her room is definitely clean. It's a comfortable sized room. They have bingo and TV time and three meals a day and three snacks, which I haven't tested myself but they definitely have a variety of food. They have a friendly staff.

My parents are in Carson Senior Assisted Living. However, Mom had to be placed in Lake Regional Hospital because she developed a bedsore that is a stage four the size of your hand. In August, she was mobile, but in September her health seemed to deteriorate quickly. When I went in one day, I noticed she had on a sweater that I didn't recognize. This was on a Wednesday, and then on Friday when I returned, she had on the same sweater and I was a little bit upset because I thought they changed her clothes every day. When I pulled the cover back, I saw that her arm was taped to her body inside of her diaper. The next day, Saturday, she had a pretty old fashioned gown on, and on Sunday she had on the same gown. There were only two people working that day, but normally six people are floating around. I was a little bit upset. The thing that made me most upset is that she had a stage four ulcerated sore on her behind the size of my hand. If you're bathing a senior citizen at least three times a week, you would notice it, but they said it was the private nurse's fault, not Carson's fault. The private nurse only comes once a week and Carson's people are primarily with her all day, so how is it somebody else's fault. I'm a little bit disturbed by that. They have a lot of activities, and they have good food. They have a dietitian that feeds them, but both of my parents are really thin now and they've lost a considerable amount of weight. The staff is friendly. The food looks very healthy, but they have no seasoning on it at all. The price is fair. They are in the same room, but it's a large room. The setup is really nice.

We checked out the Alzheimer's section of Carson Senior. We talked to the woman who runs that section and she was extremely pleasant. The people were well fed, they had activities going, and the lady who runs the place was there all the time. She was aware of all her people and their needs. She writes Christmas cards to the families and even gives them gifts. The residents in the assisted living all looked nicely presented and happy. The residents in the Alzheimer's care were well taken care of and they were out and about with other people all day long.
