The Springs of Escondido was OK, it's just a little bit too far away from where I live. I want Mom closer to me if she has to go into something like that. The rooms were OK. The staff who accommodated me was really good. The dining area was nice. The girl who took me on a tour had them make a pie for me, and it was very good.

I liked Pacifica Senior Living Escondido. They were great. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and I loved how the staff members knew everyone's name. They didn't treat everyone just as a resident or patient and that showed the connection and that they care. The place was very clean and the studios were pretty spacious. The dining area was clean and looked like a very nice restaurant.

I thought Pacifica Senior Living Escondido was very nice. The staff was very pleasant, informative, friendly, and they were very delightful. We went through the dining area and a group of people were doing Wii Bowling when we got there. We also saw the exercise room and we saw all the facilities on all the floors. We went into a room that we thought my dad might like as well. I was impressed. The place was clean, there was nothing out of order or out of place, and it looked like it was top-notch. The staff was enlightening, answered all our questions, and took the time to sit with us and give us all the details. I enjoyed it very much.

I liked what I saw at Oakmont of Escondido Hills. I could've been quite happy there. I liked the liveliness of the members and the staff was good. I enjoyed them too. We didn't get too far into it as far as accommodating themselves, but I was pleasantly taken with it.

When you walk in at Las Villas Del Norte(Elmcroft, it was a very big place. But its very institutional. The room we saw was sunny and empty; you have to bring your own furniture. The person who gave me the tour was fine, but she was somebody brought from the outside and not part of the program there. They have facilities like a swimming pool. There was nothing wrong with it; its just not the right fit.

Oakmont of Escondido Hills is secluded. There are really not many houses, so it is a quiet neighborhood. The staff members seem good; we're happy with them. They have everything, i.e., a theater, a pool table, and a salon. They have a full range of amenities. The staff seems to be competent; everything seems to be fine. The place is very clean, open, bright, and nice. We feel very at home there. Some of the places we visited were not as friendly feeling. One thing we like about Oakmont is that it is by itself, it is quiet and it is more in the country.

The Springs of Escondido's food is very good, but it's difficult getting used to the way they serve because it's pretty regimental. You have to come for the meals at 8:12 and 5:00, and they have a certain pattern for serving. The staff has been very nice. However, they're not all that accommodating with transportation. They schedule trips on Sunday mornings, which does not allow for anyone to get transportation to church. I like my 1-bedroom apartment very much. I have sliding glass doors with a balcony, and it has lots of covered space, which is very nice. It's a much more livable apartment than where I was. They provide a system where you have a pendant, and if you have a problem, you can press it and they will find out what your problem is. In general, the staff has been good. There are two elevators, but they're small. I'm on the third floor, and one of the elevator is right on the other side of the building from where I live.

Las Villas Del Norte was a very large facility, but the room was semi-private, and I didn't like the setup where's she's practically in a living room and a room. The sales rep was very nice and knowledgeable; I didn't have any problems with her at all.

The rooms at Silverado Escondido were very nice. We had a tour and saw of their activities. The staff was favorable. The facility was clean, and the dining area was attractive and well kept.
According to Genworth’s 2018 Cost of Care study, the monthly cost of assisted living in Escondido is right in line with the California state average ($4,500) but $500 above the national average of $4,000. Rates here are on par with Los Angeles ($4,500), slightly less than Oxnard ($4,575) but much higher than other cities such as Riverside ($3,500), El Centro ($3,650) and Bakersfield ($3,150). Of the cities surveyed in this area of the state, only Santa Maria has a higher monthly cost at $4,825.
Note: Senior care cost data wasn’t available for Escondido, so data for the closest city, San Diego, was used.

When comparing senior care options in Escondido, it’s important to consider the reasons why monthly costs differ, such as the number of service hours, the level of care and the setting. In-home care, including homemaker and home health aide services, costs a moderate amount more per month than assisted living, but the true cost may be much higher when household operating expenses are factored in. Nursing homes and assisted living communities both provide residential care that includes room and board, but there’s a huge rate difference between the two. The round-the-clock availability of skilled nursing services is the main reason why nursing home costs in Escondido are $4,000 higher per month compared to assisted living.
