can't say enough good things about the managers and staff here; they and the residents are wonderful caring people. I moved here14 months ago with my wife who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. I was 85 and she was 80. I was able to be her caregiver in a nice 1 bedroom apartment for 12 months with minimal staff assistance and we both enjoyed 3 meals a day in the dining room, a wide choice of age-appropriate activities, and the ambience of an older resort hotel... not a sterile institutional setting like most of the licensed Residential Community For the Elderly that I had investigated. Just 8 weeks ago she qualified for Hospice Care here in a Memory Care room. She received excellent care there for the last two months of her life and I was able to visit her whenever I wanted to. She died 10 days ago. I plan to stay in our apartment and continue to enjoy this lifestyle for as long as I can.

My grandmother moved into Carmel Village Retirement Community. We pay separate prices for her rent and her care. She's in a one-bedroom that's very nice and she seems very happy. She has no problems with the nurses, and they worked with us on the price. Her one-bedroom has a little dinette, a sink, and a kitchen, a living room and a bedroom with a bath. They have a gathering area and always do parties for the families like luaus and stuff. My mom's opinion is the food is not good; she doesnt like it.
