My wife was put in here by Kaiser Perm., and their care is abysmal. They cannot care about the health of someone if they don\'t care. Some of the staff are top notch but most including the woman in charge are of the lowest caliber they can find. My wife was recently moved to a room with NO phone, and that has created a whole host of new problems. I have not talked to my wife in over a week, because they don\'t have a phone that can reach her room. Or so they tell me..... They could not care less.

I liked The Chateau of Long Beach the most of the places I visited. It was warm, clean, it seemed like they had good activities for the seniors living there. It just seemed like it would give my father a better feeling of home. It offered the best living conditions for my dad. There were a couple of men playing chess, there were some people sitting in the theater room, they were singing, and my dad loves to sing. The staff was engaged, and appeared to be active with the members. The ones I met with were very informative, kind, and nice.

My sister moved into the Chateau of Long Beach. I would not give it a good rating or a good recommendation. I'm not happy with what happened there before my sister passed away. I never got a contract from them even though I sat down with the administrator and went through the contract; he never sent it to me. A couple of weeks after I sat down with him I asked him about that, and he said he was busy, but that he would give it to me, which he never did. The care was not good and the only saving grace was the hospice, which has nothing to do with the Chateau. It's $2,400 a month and it's not worth it. They were not set up to provide around-the-clock care, even though they assured me they were. I was there at numerous times, at different hours of the day and night, and I was not happy with the service at all. I have not heard from them since my sister passed. I never received a condolence letter, and I never got the contract. There were a couple of people on the staff that were outstanding, but everybody else was subpar, including the administrator. I saw the food and I wasn't impressed. The facility is old, not particularly well laid out, the rooms are not very big, and they have two people to a room. I was not happy with my sister being there, but we couldn't afford anything above that.

I visited the Chateau of Long Beach with my friend. It was far for her and not quite as updated, but the people were fantastic, and the staff was amazing. She said if she can move in with them tomorrow, she would, but it was a little far for her. I think it was a thorough representation of what I saw online. I thought it was a nice place for her. There were a lot of things going on, and they have social things, like exercise and bingo. The dining room provided for social activity with smaller tables, and people could sit together if they chose to, which was a nice thing. It was arranged nicely and clean.

I went to Palmcrest Grand. The tour was good, but there were lots of remodeling going on. There was an apartment-type room with a balcony. They also had shared rooms and private rooms. They showed a board of activities. Activities were basic.
