Salem Lutheran Home has been providing ecumenical faith-based services for over 80 years. In 1924, Salem bought it's first cottage, Palm Tree to meet the needs of older adults throughout the Bay Area. Today, our five acre village-like campus is home to almost 200 residents of all faiths and backgrounds. Salem is proud to be a registered Eden Alternative Community. Based on the core principle that growing older should be a continued stage of development, the Eden Alternative offers our residents opportunities to give meaningful care to other living things.

We continually strive to preserve the deep sense of faith, dignity, and compassion we have fostered since we first opened our doors more than 135 years ago. Each Elder Care Alliance community provides a unique blend of services, activities, and levels of care designed to help our residents feel comfortable and secure. Creative daily meals and convenient housekeeping, laundry, and transportation services ensure that residents receive the proper nutrition and practical help they deserve. Our staff chaplains and social workers offer spiritual and family support. Dementia-trained caregivers and skilled nurses provide physical and psychological care. And our entertaining activities and programs ensure that our residents feel a sense of enrichment on a daily basis.
