My aunt is now residing here. We've been very happy with the place so far. The staff is very nice and very attentive. When we asked for things, they're right on it. However, they sold the place and everybody's kind of worried about what's going to become of everybody here. That's the only negative about it, but as far as it being a nice community, I give it a 5-star. They have activities, and the residents are very happy here. They keep them involved, and they always have something going on for the residents. It's a nice place, but it could use some updating and make it a little bit more modern. It's a little older building, but they keep it clean for how it is. She likes the food.

It has everything you could possibly think of. The staff is good, nice and professional. I haven't even been here a month yet but everything's great. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. My apartment is nice and clean, and it's just big enough for me. First thing I noticed was the place didn't smell like a nursing home. The place itself is clean and smells good. They have all kinds of activities from religious, to reading, to crochet. It seems like they have a variety of stuff. The value is perfect because everything is included in the rent. The food is OK.

I have chosen this community, and I love it very much. They have all these activities like games and bingo for the residents. The community is perfect for me because I have lots of medical problems. They clean my apartment, and they feed us breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff is very helpful, they always keep the place very clean, and I like them. What stood out to me about this place is the security; you have to buzz to get in. The food is good because they have a cook that makes our meals.

It was an older place, but the staff was really great. The place was nice and clean. The food was good and they gave you two meals a day. They had an exercise room and a library. They'd also give you a medical alert that you put around your neck, so if you fall down and can't get up somewhere, they'd know where you are, which I thought was pretty good. The staff was good.

It is very nice and very convenient for me. Everything is working out just fine. They have medical staff on hand if you need it, and they've got all their meals taken care of. Everything is convenient for Mom and they even have a beauty salon. They have a lot of activities like movie nights, jam sessions where people come in and play like a mini band, costume parties, and luncheons. The staff is great, helpful, and understanding.

It was fine and clean. However, they weren't telling me a lot about what the best placement would be, so I've decided to keep my husband for as long as I can keep him here. The staff was friendly. Most of the residents were engaged. They also looked happy.

I visited Leisure Pointe. Overall, they were very helpful, very polite, answered all of the questions we had, and showed us around. I was impressed with the staff member that showed us around. She was very nice and helpful.

Leisure Pointe was not what I was looking for. I’m independent and healthy and even when I am disabled, I can get around on my own. It was more for older people who weren’t as independent as myself. The staff was wonderful. The lady I spoke to was extremely nice. There was a guy I met at the elevator who was kind of rude. He was in the office and didn’t really want to be bothered by me. I asked for this person, and he said, She’s upstairs! and I’m like Excuse me. I’m sorry to have bothered you, but then when I went upstairs and talked to her, she was a breath of fresh air. She was so welcoming, and her staff was so nice. They were both extremely accommodating, made me feel very welcome, and tried to help me find another facility in the area. I was very pleased with them. I had been in their apartments before because my friends had lived there, and they’re nice. My friends were very happy when they first moved in because they also provided meals to the individuals in a nice cafeteria area. The cost for the two of them was $1,100 a month. At times, they couldn’t pay all the money, but one of the staff was in charge of working with them when they were on a budget. They can’t say enough good things about the place. I really enjoyed myself when I was there. The staff could be a little more sensitive to the elderly because they yell at people from a distance. Maybe they’re overworked or maybe they don’t have enough staff, but it’s not acceptable to yell.

In California, the state Medicaid program is Medi-Cal. This program is designed to help low-income seniors and disabled people pay for various services, such as nursing homes, doctors and hospitals, prescription drugs, dental, rehab, adult day health care and in-home personal care services.
Medi-Cal may pay for all of the applicable services (full scope) or only some of them (partial scope) depending on qualifications. The process is further complicated by the addition of over 90 categories of eligibility, such as income-based, SSI linked and medically needy.
The most common eligibility categories for seniors in San Bernardino are:
Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)
This program is funded by the federal government and designed to help seniors remain in their home or community instead of entering into a nursing home.
Services are provided at local PACE centers, such as InnovAge in San Bernardino, which serves as a a senior center, health care coordinator and senior advocacy group. If accepted, participants in the program must receive all health care services at a designated center or authorized provider.
Although PACE does not directly cover assisted living, it may cover some aspects of care in an assisted living facility. This program doesn’t pay for room and board.
Applicants for PACE must meet the following eligibility requirements:
San Bernardino residents can stay active, eat lunch and meet new friends at local senior centers. These centers have regular activities and trips, and they can also provide guidance on aging-related matters such as long-term care.
