We visited The Carillon at Boulder Creek. I didn't like the med administration and the director of nursing was very snotty and difficult to approach with my questions. I felt that the staff members that they use to help people who need some assistance weren't very competent. They also have independent living, caregivers, and they have staff who help with medication, which I think is against the standards of care. I'm picky because I'm a doctor and I'm not putting my mother there. They did invite us for a meal, but we just didn't go.

I like Sunrise of Boulder very much. I love the little cottage feel that it had. The kitchens were pretty bare compared to some of the other places I went to because they had little white dormitory-sized refrigerators. The food was really great. I had a very nice salad and I could tell it was freshly-made soup. It's all one building, but as you walk down the hallway, each room has little cottage windows with drapes which you can open to see people passing by in the hallway. I thought that was very charming. It’s like you have a front door and a back door. I didn’t particularly like the dining room too much. The waitress had been there for 14 years though, which I think is a good sign.
The median cost of assisted living in Boulder for a single-occupancy apartment is $5,000/month (Genworth - 2018). This monthly cost typically includes rent, utilities, dining, housekeeping and transportation.
