Sugar Valley Estates is a wonderful place. I have no doubts about the care and the quality of life that my mom and all the other residents have. They're all very happy and very engaged. She loves it and would never go back to living on her own ever again. They have sing-alongs, trivia, bingo, and a knitting club. There are quite a bit of activities for people and sometimes you see the residents sitting and relaxing in the atrium and conversing with one another. There's always something happening and those who work there are very attentive. Her room is a pretty standard one-bedroom, one-bath, with a living room, balcony, and a small kitchenette, and her view faces the mountains, so it's perfect. It's very sunny, very open, and very airy. The food is excellent, but sometimes it's not very flavorful, which they have to do for the residents.

We chose Brookdale Mariana Butte for my mother. I love the staff that I've met; they are friendly and very caring. Their facility is very clean and very safe for the elderly.

I’m a young and active 55 year old who moved in a year ago. In that year, I’ve had difficulty with the maintenance department over and over. They even entered my apartment w/o notice. The residents didn’t know what to think of me. For the 1st 3 months, someone was always at my door asking if I was really old enough to live there, asked for all of my contact info so they could pass it out to all of the other residents. During an activities, I spent more time explaining myself. I made a huge mistake letting them know I am a nurse. Long conversations I was sometimes unable to get out of. Once they saw I decorated with skulls, they decided I was a witch belonging to a cult. I’ve been passively aggressive asked what my religion was, the reasoning behind my choice in decoration. I was sexual harassed multiple times, asked for sex, and had to remove his hand from my waiste. I received multiple unsigned notes for residents complaining about the front door wreath, small pirate flag on the patio, and clown mask in my car. One note was yelling at me and demanding I remove the skull from my garden which ended in a yelling match with a slap to my face. I did retaliate with hot choclote to the chest. Text messages at 2am about removing the skull from my garden. Whenever I would introduce myself to someone, they would always say, “Oh, so you’re Kelly.” Life at Affinity became so difficult for me that I felt it best to break the lease and never look back. The cost of breaking the lease out weighed staying. I believe that 55 is way to young to live at the Affinity Apartments. I have plenty of time to be old, closed minded, angry, and disabled in my future. Until then....away we go.

Courtyard of Loveland was too small and too restrictive without a lot of options for the residents. For example there weren't a lot of options for walking around or having different choices for food. We didn't want to move Mom from some place that was the same or not quite as good and that's definitely the feeling I got from Courtyard. I didn't really spend any more time than just getting my impression of the basic facilities, but the staff member during the tour was very nice and cordial.

Good Samaritan Society - Loveland Village was very nice and large. It had an indoor pool, a wood workshop, outdoor furniture around fireplaces that you could sit around, and a library with computers. It wasn't that warm when you walk in because we didn't see many people there. The place was also dated.

Hillcrest of Loveland was very nice. It had nice grounds and nice, spacious rooms. We had lunch there and it was good. We talked to a couple of tenants there and they're very pleased. The staff was pleasant and nice.

My father has moved into Sugar Valley Estates, and he loves it there. Everything is wonderful. The rooms that we saw and the one that we chose for Dad were perfect, and he has an absolutely gorgeous view of the mountains. They have all kinds of things, but at 95 years old, he really does not have any interest. They have a TV room and an exercise room, and they have someone that comes in every day who exercises with them. They have people who come in and talk to them about different health issues. They have a pool table, and the manager plays pool with them on Sundays. They also show movies. They are very active.
