Glastonbury is located in Hartford County, Connecticut, very near the exact center of the state. It was founded in 1693 and was named after Glastonbury in Somerset, England. Located on the banks of the Connecticut River, Glastonbury is a fairly small town, with a population of 34,427 as of the 2010 census. Glastonbury is home to Meshomasic State Forest, one of the largest in the state, which provides plenty of opportunity for outdoor pursuits.
