I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If i could do 0 stars i would. Don't bring loved ones to mission point of grandville. My grandma was there one week for rehab after we said we are taking her out of there for the poor treatment she was receiving..... She died in their parking lot. They were supposed to do daily weights and see if her extra medication was needed..they didn't do that..they were supposed to have her on a heart healthy diet...they didn't do that..they didn't get her out of bed once, she got a bed sore. They also never got her up to bathe her. I heard people who are in there say it takes them forever to answer a call light. I myself actually drove down there because it had been over an hour and still no one went in to see my grandma. I urge you to please do your research.

I visited this facility

Sentinel Pointe was very nice, but it was more independent living, so we'd have to pay for extra services, and I'm not quite sure that would be enough for my sister. We were happy with the tour though. The staff who toured us around was wonderful, she was very knowledgeable, kind, and very professional. We looked at a one-bedroom and a studio, and we very much liked the studio and the way it was set up. They have a theater, but I don't know about the activities. We didn't go into that so much. It would have met all our needs, except we needed more care.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents are here. They're not providing care, it's an independent living, but everything seems to be going well and they seem to like it. They have just moved in a few days ago, but so far, everything has been great. They love their apartment. It's big enough for them. Everything is great. Everybody that I've talked to has been very nice. I don't think my parents have been dealing with a lot of people just because they have been staying in their rooms because they just moved in and so they're quarantining themselves. However, people are bringing in their meals and they seem very nice. They said that the food has been good, too. They have activities but my parents haven't taken part in anything. It's a really nice, beautiful place. The staff is wonderful. It's very clean.

I visited this facility

It was elegant and the layout of the place was nice. They only had a studio apartment when I looked and they didn't have a 1-bedroom available. It's a much smaller community than in other places I visited. They only had apartment-sized refrigerators, but we wanted a full-sized refrigerator. They kept in touch with me to see how my friend is doing. I like this place.

We went here. It was nice, the rooms were spacious, and the staff seemed very knowledgeable. They gave us lunch and it was very good. They were having lunch when we visited so we did not see any activities. It was close to our house.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm here at Villa Maria Retirement Community and it's wonderful. The staff is very friendly and caring. The food is fine. I'm very satisfied. They have card games, bingo, an art class, and exercises. The assortment of activities is good. The building is beautiful, and the dining room is gorgeous. My apartment is nice, everything is fresh and in good shape, and carpeting is clean. However, the hallways could be improved upon.

My dad is living here and it's good. His room is adequate and it is handicap-accessible with grab bars in the shower and lots of windows, which is nice. The staff is good. They have programs that my dad can go to.

I am a current client of this provider

I hired Home Instead. I found them to be very cooperative, very helpful, and very professional. The aides have been very professional and very nice. I'm very pleased with the service that I've gotten so far. They help me with dressing, bathing, ambulation, nutrition, laundry, light housekeeping, and whatever I need help with.

I visited this facility

Sunrise of Cascade appeared to be able to meet the price as far as the money that my mother has available without going over too much. Then they had someone go out and evaluate her but she was in a bad mood, so they came back and said it was not good, and they doubled the price per month right then and there. The place was beautiful, and the residents seemed to be happy. It looked like they had a lot to offer them, but tThe problem was that they wanted to put my mother in memory care. I was excited for her to have her go to some place like that, but they did that and then they told me at the end of the year, it was going to be another jump height in finances. Well, the place was very clean and beautifully decorated. They had lots of activities to offer. The staff was very easy to work with. The rooms were very clean.

Care Cost Comparison

The cost of senior care varies depending on location and type of care. In Kent County, skilled nursing care in a semiprivate room is more than double the price of all other types of care, including assisted living. In-home care, such as home health aides and homemaker services, is moderately less expensive than assisted living. Residential care facilities typically include expenses such as utilities, property taxes and maintenance in their room-and-board fees, while in-home care does not. These factors should be considered when deciding on the best type of care for a senior’s unique situation.
