I visited Atrium at Churchman Village, and the staff was very helpful. I think what I liked about it was that the amenities seemed to be all a good value for the price of the apartment. It was also clean, and the apartments were in good shape. They have a beauty salon. It is all pretty homey.

I was impressed with Paramount Senior Living. I liked it. The staff was very pleasant. I saw a 1-bedroom and an efficiency apartment. I thought it was great. I've seen an exercise room and a cafeteria where they eat at. I've seen the community center room where they play games and where everybody hangs out. It's well maintained.

Somerford House & Place of Newark was set up a little differently than other facilities. They have little groups there and small dining rooms in each wing rather than a big dining room in one place. However, my parents are looking for a more modern place, but it's very well done and it's a very nice place. If you need more attention, they'll give it to you in your room, and you don't have to move to a different place. They bring in companion animals, and they have trips to church and to the library. They have a whole calendar of events. There are plenty of things to do. There are also regular lunches and regular visits out and they even do plays occasionally, and other things that my Mom is interested in. They serve three meals a day. The staff is all nicely dressed and pleasant. It was clean and looked nice, but it was an older building.

My parents weren't that impressed with Brookdale White Chapel. The building was older and it's a little farther away from their house, so it would be different churches, different stores, and different places. There's nothing really wrong with it. It was OK; it just didn't fit my parents' requirements. It needs general updating all around because it looked a little rundown. It was older and looked it. All rooms basically have their own bathrooms. They were smaller apartments with a living area, a closet, and a kitchenette. There really wasn't much else there. Services include medicine and medical care based on the resident's needs. They bring doctors in and you can also use their doctors if you want.
