My mother stayed at Foulk Manor North for respite. It's a wonderful place. She loved it, and she enjoyed it. The staff was lovely, everybody was helpful, polite and friendly. It's not as modern as some of the other places that I had looked at, but it's definitely clean. They had a number of activities posted per day, many of them were inside of the building, but they had outings as well. It's a good value for the services provided. The food was okay.

The Lorelton had nice spaces. It was a former schoolhouse, but they really made it nice. The rooms were big, and they had a lot of amenities and activities. The people seemed happy there. The food selections looked really good, and the dining space was very nice. It had some quirky spaces, but they made the most of it.

I have been a resident of The Lorelton since 2007. It is fine. The staff members are all very nice and very helpful. However, I'm not happy with the food. We only have two choices and one is always seafood. I don't like seafood. We used to have a lot of choices, but not anymore. Since we have another cook, he has the same menu every other week and I'm not happy with that. I have an apartment, with a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room and a bedroom. The Lorelton is excellent.

My mother seems very content at Foulk Manor South. She is doing good there. It's very clean. They're very attentive to their needs. She seems to like it considering what's been going on with her. She gets along with the staff. They're very nice, even to the family. The aides go above and beyond. The food is always freshly prepared. They take people on bus trips. They have one and two-bedroom and studio apartments. Some of the studios have a little kitchen area with a refrigerator and a microwave. They don't have Medicaid, so it's strictly self-pay.

Foulk Manor North has healthcare, assisted living, physical therapy, and they also have Medicaid. It's a beautiful facility. The rooms are spacious. The staff was very nice. It has a lot of activities, a library, and a small gym. The assisted living and healthcare are separate, and they have independent living as well. They have a really good chef. It's clean and doesn't have a urine smell.

Forwood Manor offers respite care. The facility was nice. They had really friendly and nice staff. The nurse and the director are really nice folks. It's beautiful out there and they have different levels of care for the patients. They have independent living people, an area for people who need a little care, respite care, and an area for people who need a nurse. They had a Thursday night jazz for the people to participate, and they offer games for them. They also have exercise at different times of the day and they have an area where they can lounge in.

Forwood Manor was probably the absolute best place we saw. It's a very well-kept place and it's in a nice setting. Everything else about it seemed great. The rooms were fine, and there were no problems with the amenities that we saw. It used to be a junior high school. It looks nice and has very pleasant surroundings.

I don’t recommend this place for your loved one. Inconsistency, poor staffing, and slow with treatment if needed. Staff is not suitable for the needs of the residents and very disrespectful of the residents and family’s concerns Inappropriate handling. Dirty rooms, residents are not clean and left unattended. Think twice before choosing this faculty.

Forwood Manor was well run and clean. It was a good facility. The lunch we had was good. We met a lot of people who all seemed happy. We were looking at one-bedrooms. They had amenities, like libraries, a little exercise room, and a common area.
At the confluence of the Cristina River and Brandywine Creek, just before the cold waters join with the Delaware River, within a stone’s throw of both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, stands the city of Wilmington. With a population of 71,000, this largest city in the state of Delaware was built on the site of Fort Christina , the first Swedish Settlement in North America. Long an attractive international hub for corporations, Wilmington is the home of Du Pont, Bank of America and the Christiana Health Care System. Its central location among other major cities makes the idea of assisted living in Wilmington a compelling one because an elderly loved one would benefit from a comprehensive array of services hard to duplicate in other more remote metropolitan areas.
Full of museums, galleries, and gardens there’s a lot to enjoy in Wilmington. Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Delaware Art Museum, even the famous Philadelphia Flower Show are all available to assisted living residents in Wilmington. Notable among its museums is the Delaware Art Museum whose collection focuses on American art and illustration from the 19th to the 21st century, and on the English Pre-Raphaelite movement of the mid-19th century. But there’s no need to rush. Just hanging around the Wilmington Senior Center offers the opportunity for computer training, gardening, and classes in sewing and quilting for those who like to keep their hands busy. The Black History Club meets monthly, as does the Red Hat Society and the Sassy Cardinals .
The Christiana Care Health System is headquartered in Wilmington and provides health care services through Delaware and portions of seven counties bordering the state in Pennsylvania, Maryland as well as New Jersey. Wilmington Hospital is home to Christiana Care’s Center for Rehabilitation and Center for Advanced Joint Replacement. The renowned Roxana Cannon Arsht Surgicenter is also accessible to residents of Wilmington. Nearby, the Wilmington VA Medical Center offers a variety of health services to meet the needs of our nation’s Veterans.
It’s hard to imagine a more convenient, modern and forward looking city in Delaware than Wilmington. If you are looking for senior housing or care, please check out our list of assisted living communities in Wilmington.
