Very scary place. Night nurse “LaLa” gave grandma wrong meds once almost twice because she couldn’t identify her. CNA Krystal told my mom “You lied on LaLa.” And called her trash, stupid, and don’t tell me how to do my job after my mom asked for help with my grandma after being in a wet diaper for 4 hours.

Processing paperwork and getting the loved one in there is quick and easy. However, watch your loved one\'s belongings. They will walk away without a trace.

I have a parent there... everyone seems very nice. I do hear my mom complain about the food. The facility is nice inside but really needs a facelift outside. There seems to be a huge water and flooding issue outside. Some fresh paint on benches and plants would make a big difference.

My grandfather is currently here and the communication, the nursing compassion/knowledge/experience is lacking, to say the least. I am a nurse and I cannot believe how everything is transpiring. I understand you are short staffed but to tell my family multiple times “I only pass meds, I can’t help him” when he needed help? These kinds of places make me sick. How do any of y’all sleep at night? Why don’t you staff it more appropriately?

I toured and I thought it was very nice. I was very impressed. It has a very friendly atmosphere, it is very clean, and I thought it was nice. She showed me a studio and then a studio-plus, and I thought it was nice and roomy. Dad's room was nice with all the assisted rails and stuff. She showed me around there, and she was great. She took a lot of time to learn more about dad and his situation and answered all of my questions. I came at dinnertime, so that was all I saw. They had a nice little game room, a gathering area, and a laundry facility.

I visited Brookdale Southpoint, and one interesting thing is that they have a smoking area, so I am not sure how I feel about that. My dad is a smoker so he would really like it, but we are trying to make him quit, of course, so we don't know if it would be the best place. He is probably not going to quit, so I was thinking he would probably be more happy if he went there because he could smoke. It was very nice. A staff helped me there, and she was great. It was a Sunday morning, so there were not a whole lot of activities or anybody walking around around that I could see, but they had a nice sunroom, and the cafeteria was really nice, very big, and open, which is good. There is just one story, which was good, so he won't need to go on any elevators to help him get to where he was going. They have a nice little courtyard that most of the rooms look out into and is available for them to use. I like the rooms better there -- the size and the layout.

We visited The Fountains at Mill Cove for my parents and the visit was fine. Everything is much older-looking and dingy. The staff person was phenomenal and very, very nice.

My father was in Sunrise of Jacksonville before he died. It was very nice. When my father passed, they were very personable. His apartment was spacious, they had private rooms, and then like two people would have their own bedrooms, but they shared a common bathroom. They were like extended family to him. They had bingo, crossword puzzles, and lots of word games. They had a courtyard at the back, and he took care of the raised garden. He said the food was very good. He loved it.
