I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I recently moved my father into his assisted living apartment, at Angels of Connerton. This move can truly be an emotional one, on so many levels, and for everyone involved. However, being able to say a genuine, heartfelt, “you’re going to love it!”, to my dad felt like I was giving him a gift! From the very first moment I walked into the facility, and my first meeting with Rachel, I was encouraged, even excited, about being able to offer my dad such a warm, loving, and fun environment in which to build this new chapter of his life. Rachel was informative, helpful and reassuring, every step of the way. She and her staff are godsends and they absolutely go above and beyond, taking care of your family as if they were their own (and they do it all!). After his first week of living at Connerton, I received this early morning text message from my father, “0600, had to wake up to use the restroom and wanted to mention how grateful I am to you, for the quality of my life here.” He is happy, and that means everything to me. I can’t take the credit though...it’s the entire team at Angels of Connerton, who have made such a profound difference in the life of my dad. Thank you, Angels!!

I visited this facility

I went to Grand Villa of New Port Richey. I did not see anything that was off-putting. It was clean, I saw many of the residents, and they all looked happy and busy. I talked to one resident outside, and she said, "Oh, I'm happy here. But I know if you ask eighteen people, you get eighteen different answers," which is true. I really liked their single room. They had really nice furniture that they would use instead of having to either go buy some or bring your furniture from home. The people I saw working there didn't look angry. Everybody was pleasant, and if everybody is pleasant, then they can't be hating their jobs. The staff was very nice. She had an answer to everything I asked. Their dining areas were beautiful. I have no idea about the food because no one was eating. They had a lot of activities, but I know my husband wouldn't be interested in them. They had a barber shop, a beauty shop, and a therapy room with lots of machines. I was trying to look at things through my husband's eyes. They had a room for everybody to watch TV together, and they have Wi-Fi there. They could have had more outside space, but I didn't see any dirt anywhere. Everything looked nice.

I visited this facility

I visited both assisted living and memory care at Brookdale New Port Richey. It's older than the other place we visited. It had three buildings, they're very long, and they have outside space between each building. The hallways were very long, which is OK except if you were in a wheelchair, in which case it might be harder for you to make it to the big dining area. I was looking at it through my husband's eyes, and I thought this would be very hard for him. He would be too tired by the time he got there, and that was a minus for me, although there was nothing wrong with it. I didn't see people in the hallways begging for help. I liked that it was pet friendly; they could have small pets. It was nice that there was a lot of outdoor areas that the residents could go to. They had a rehab place and two big dining rooms. It had a lot more residents than the other one, so you would need two dining rooms. The staff was very nice and very helpful. You would have to bring your own furniture there, which was a minus for me because I would have to break up my bedroom set, and I didn't want to do that. They had activity rooms, but I didn't go into them. I have emphysema and after walking that one long building, I was really too tired to go to any others. It was a long way. It looked very clean to me, but I had trouble with the layout, and that's probably because of my deficiencies; it's too far. If you had a room on the other end of it, it's a long way. That might be good for other people because it would keep them in shape, but for me it ran me out of oxygen.

I visited this facility

When the time comes, I think we will pick here for my husband. The tour was done wonderfully. The lady was very informed and very friendly. We met all their Covid restrictions, and they were very thorough in doing that. We looked at two apartments, and we felt that the deluxe room would be adequate for us. It was very clean. We were able to see the dining room and the workout rooms. We saw, from a distance, the library and we were able to see quite a bit, and we're very pleased. They showed us what we asked. They told us that they would be able to take him to doctor's appointments. They used to be able to bring them to stores, but now they just have them give the list and they will get it for them. We saw the pool table. They had a lot of activities like bingo and different exercises that he could join. There was quite a bit that they shared.

I visited this facility

We're in the process of moving stuff into Brookdale New Port Richey, and Mom has the room. We were there in person. They provide three meals a day, but she does have a refrigerator and a microwave in her room. She's on the first floor, and she doesn't have far to walk to go to the dining room or the activity room. It's all on the first floor. They have an RN and six LPNs on duty, they have a house doctor, and different days of the week they have the staff come in. It looked nice, very well-kept, and not beat up.
