Pacifica Senior Living Sunrise was nice. When we went there, they were having renovations so everything was out of place, but the lady who did the tour was very nice, and she was very clear. The location was clean and well organized. If we were thinking of putting my mother into an assisted living, I liked that place for her. It's a very nice place with a good environment. They also had a salon, a library, and lots of activities.

Pacifica Senior Living Sunrise is new, and not as big as its sister community that we chose. It's also an apartment building that's been redone. Absolutely everything has been remodeled. It's a very nice community and they had all the things that the first 2 communities I liked best had. They had a beauty salon, a movie theater that was setup like an actual movie theater with an awning, they also had a private dining room for families who want to come and visit and have a special meal. The apartments were set up either as shared, 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom. But they wouldn't take my mother because the nurse there disagreed with my mother's health status, and I didn't understand so we argued about that. The nurse said that my mother's old cut could open again which is true and it never did, and their nurse also said that my mother needed to be transported with a lift but it's not true because she walks. I did not understand why they won't take her when their sister community would.

It was very favorable. The rooms were a little on the small side but very nice. They had talks and movies in their own movie theater. They also had regular activities like bingo. The place was very clean and well-maintained. The food and dining experience were excellent. The staff was very friendly, efficient, and seemed to be doing their jobs well.

I wasn't that impressed with The Colony Club in Sunrise. It smelled like urine, and the rooms were very old and small. They also have rooms with two twin beds that you have to share with someone, but those were also old and needed remodeling. It also smelled in the corridors. The staff who gave me the tour was fine.

The Colony Club in Sunrise had the most literature, the most amenities, and more packaged pricing. It was more customized than the other facilities. I was impressed with the caring staff. I was able to speak with some of the residents, and they indicated that they were very happy there. It's a clean facility. I didn't see a lot of interaction with the residents. They were grouped here and grouped there, but they really weren't doing any activities that were stimulating. They were just sitting there.

My sister is at Westchester of Sunrise. Going in, it seems like a hotel. It's very spacious. They have lots of rooms on the ground floor, but the residents actually reside on the second floor. They use the rooms on the ground floor for meetings, activities, and games. They have a huge dining area and a nurses' station, and all of that is on the ground floor. It's somewhere I would not mind living. The staff has been quite helpful. She has developed incontinence and they started her bladder training at the rehab center and continued when she got to Westchester. I'm there almost every day because of that. They have bowling, exercises, outings, a salon service, group discussions, different church services, transportation to doctors' visits if needed, and transportation up to seven miles. It's very attractive. I only tasted the food once, and it was not bad. The value is more than worthy.
Go a bit further out to explore pricing and amenities.
