Medicaid offers several financial programs for seniors who need help paying for assisted living in Alpharetta. The most popular assistance comes from two Medicaid waivers: the
Community Care Services Program (CCSP) and the
Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE).
Community Care Service Program Under the CCSP, seniors can receive various support and services that may otherwise be an out-of-pocket cost. This program makes it possible for seniors to receive care while remaining in the community. Some of these services include adult day health care, emergency response equipment and personal care. To qualify, individuals must:
- Have some type of functional impairment that causes physical limitations
- Receive a recommendation from their physician for intermediate nursing home care
- Be eligible for Medicaid
- Choose to receive their care at home or in an assisted living facility rather than in a nursing home
To be financially qualified, monthly income is limited to $2,313 for each applicant, and the countable asset value must be less than $2,000 for single applicants and $3,000 for married applicants. This limit excludes the individual’s primary vehicle and the primary residence, valued at up to $585,000. There’s also a $10,000 burial extension for applicants and their spouses.
To apply for CCSP, seniors can contact the Atlanta Regional Commission on Aging at (404) 463-3333.
SOURCE Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment combines primary care, social services and long-term care programs for seniors who live at home or in assisted living communities.
The types of services provided may include:
- Skilled nursing care
- Home delivered meals
- Respite care
- Emergency response system
- 24-hour medical access
- Adult day health
- Personal support services
To be eligible for SOURCE, an individual must be 65 or older with a chronic medical condition or disabled, determined to need nursing home level of care and eligible for full Medicaid.
