The Phoenix at Milton wasn't that bad. It was kind of dark -- like the walls were dark brown. It was convenient location-wise. They have menus, and they have one special. When I asked what my mother would eat if she didn't like it, they said, "Well, we have chicken fingers or peanut butter and jelly," and it just wasn't much of a choice. There weren't a whole lot of choices. The apartments were small, and they really only have studios. I saw their arts-and-crafts room and a little area outside that was kind of a patio, and for some reason they had a playground there. I'm not really sure why they had a playground. The staff members were really nice and helpful. I only talked to the sales director and her assistant, and they were very nice and accommodating.

I visited The Phoenix at Milton for my mom, it was absolutely terrible. It's really beautiful down in the lobby but the upstairs look like a hospital and it was very filthy. The apartments had nice 10ft ceilings, but they were very small, and they only had like a dorm room refrigerator. My mother, with where she is, has a full-sized fridge and cabinets and granite countertops and all. I had a great impression of the people that I interviewed with. I just saw the dining room, and I think that was it. I did not see a library or anything like that. The dining room was clean, and the staff members were all very nice. The apartments were terribly dirty. The upstairs, near the patient care area, looks like a hospital. It's got a main nursing area that makes it look like a hospital instead of an assisted living for people who are moving around and having an enjoyable life. It just looks very institutionalized to me, the carpeting and all around smelled terrible, and it was really dirty. It's not some place I would put my mom.

My friends are in Dunwoody Health and Rehabilitation Center. The staff is pleasant, the building is well maintained, and the second floor to the rooms are nice. The rooms were normal size, both have shared rooms, and they seemed to be well cared for. They have activities and exercise or therapy areas.

Vickery Rose Retirement Community is less of a campus, but they've got lots of activities. They had 24-hour food available. It's a lovely place. They allowed dogs on the lower level, but they didn't have a room available at the time. My son really liked it. The staff was delightful, and the inside of the facility was absolutely lovely. I would've enjoyed living there. They've got a library, a little exercise room, and a nice theater. The staff described it as like a cruise ship, and they're pet friendly.

Christian City Assisted Living looked very nice. We saw a 1-bedroom apartment. It had its own bathroom inside and there's no kitchen. It's like how an efficiency apartment works. It's just enough for one person. I even saw couples staying there. The person who gave me the tour was very nice and she gave me all the information that I needed. Their dining area didn't looked run-down nor did it smell. They also said they had a whole lot of activities, I also saw their calendar for the month on the bulletin board, and they had a lot of activities going on. The facilities and appearance of the place looked decent.

Everything at The Phoenix at Dunwoody looked really nice. They had a lot of amenities like exercises and memory care. The staff member who accommodated me during the tour was excellent. The room I saw in the community was a studio, but they also have other options available (although I didn't look at them). They have activities and games like throwing a balloon around among the residents. I talked to one guy who was mopping the floor and he was also nice. The layout of the place was also good.

My mother-in-law stayed in the memory care at Christian City Assisted Living. Everything was set up very nicely and we got exactly what we needed them to do. The other residents seemed cheerful and positive. My mother-in-law herself had a wonderful time there. The staff was professional and caring. The dining area was clean, the food was tasty enough, and there were good choices.
