My mother was a past resident of Brookdale Oak Park. It was absolutely beautiful, and the view was beautiful, but it was very expensive. The staff member was very nice, but she ended up going to higher care, and I didn't like it at all. It was fine for independent living, but if you need more care, it's not great. They had a ton of stuff, and they took you where you wanted to go. It was in a great location, very centrally located, and there was parking.

Oak Park Arms looked clean and everybody seemed friendly. I didn't have a bad experience. It is a place where I could live. They had a music activity going on when I went to visit. They were trying to get some of the seniors down to get their exercising in. They had activities out there. I liked the music that they were playing. The apartment was small for the money. It was just one room with a bathroom and a closet area right off the bathroom. I was expecting a kitchen, but it was smaller than I had anticipated. The money was a little bit too much for the size of the room. The building was well kept. The parking lot is easily accessible to the building. It has a lot of features that I like.

My mother has moved into Oak Park Arms. It is very nice, and it works out perfectly. They have a good social room, a TV room, and a game room. It is a very nice community. They have live music, play games and cards, and they have a shuttle bus that takes the residents to various events. The dining area is clean and very nice. My mothers' room is a studio. It is very nice, and has its own little kitchenette. It is perfect for her.

Oak Park Arms is a dated building. It was originally a high-end hotel and apartment complex. It has a lot of amenities that elders would appreciate. They have a ballroom with a stage, dancing, and exercises, they teach art classes, they have an art studio, a woodworking shop in the basement, and doctors' facilities in-house. The foyer had 1920s mirrors around the elevators. It's still like a hotel, but it's real nice. The rooms were dated; there were probably 20 layers of paint and wallpaper in the rooms, but they were nice. I have no complaints. Everybody I met was real nice.

I like Oak Park, but it's much too small. They're lovely people, but the rooms were too small, with no doors except one to get out. The staff member was very lovely and showed me three units, but I got claustrophobic. The facility was pretty old and didn't have air conditioning, but it's beautifully done and well-kept. We're elders, but we're not to be left like in a prison.

I've toured three places and Oak Park Arms was my least favorite because it looked like an old hotel. It had some good features, but it just didn't do anything for me. They have meals, entertainment, transportation, and concierge services. It's all pretty typical.

I went to Oak Park Arms. I liked the person who showed me around. She was very knowledgeable, I had no problem with her, and she was great at what she did. However, when I walked in, as a very lucid intelligent adult, I was confused about where I was supposed to go. There was very poor signage. It's like anybody could wander off the street and just go anywhere. There was no division and no secure entry. There were people wandering around and it was like the saddest, most depressing place I've ever been. It was dark, dreary, and kind of musty smelling. My first impression was negative. It's a much older building with much fewer amenities and it is certainly not state-of-the-art or new. I would not put anybody I cared for in there.

My mom was at Belmont Village Oak Park, but she required additional care than what they had there. She needed a secure floor, but I wasn't comfortable with it because it didn't seem like it was very nicely decorated and seemed a little overcrowded. It didn't meet my standards. It seemed like there was a high amount of staff turnover in the management team. The elevators and fan weren't working and were broken down for an extended period of time. There were movies, history lessons, and outings. A lot of times though they didnt have enough tickets available if they went to a show, so Mom couldn't go. The food was good, and they had a large selection to choose from. They had buffets during holidays that were kind of pricey but pretty good. The staff was good and very caring to my mom. The first floor and main hallway were nice, but I was not satisfied with how the secure floor looked.

Oak Park Arms was very nice, and they took care of my father's needs for the entire weekend. Everything is good and met all of his needs. It was clean, and my dad likes baseball, so he was able to watch that there. His room was great, nice, and clean.
