Sold our home and moved here for our retirement. After moving here and making a retirement family,we are informed that our rates will increase $300 to $400 more on our monthly rent.We are all seniors on a fixed income. We all moved here for a stress free retirement and this is certainly not. This is disgusting and shameful for connect 55 in meadville to do this.

Pennybyrn is all about looks not care...especially in the Assisted Living and Memory Care Units. IN those units they might have 1 LPN (in a building with over 100 patients) and the rest of the staff is a mix of Practical and just \"clean up\" staff. These LPN make day to day and moment to moment medication decisions and healthcare decisions with little supervision and will medicate just to quiet patients so they don\'t bother them. Pennybyrn really just seems to want the Independent Living customers that they charge a arm and a leg for. My mother has been there over 8 years and honestly while the grounds and facilities are super...the actual patient care has been constantly understaffed and not very good. The much less expensive home my mother-in-law is much smaller and doesn\'t look nearly as \"swanky\" with old buildings BUT they provide twice or better care of the patients and have their priorities correct. We constantly are trying to get Pennybyrn to communicate better, have better staff and improve communication with the responsible family members....to no avail. Now Pennybyrn is almost doubling their independent living but boy will all those people be disappointed when the day comes to move to a higher level of care.

Snyder Village has a locked memory care unit as part of their assisted living facility. While they do provide some programming, they are not equipped to deal with the range of challenges experienced and exhibited by persons living with dementia. There is minimal care planning and coordination with medical providers or behavioral management specialists. Care planning and decision making with family is woefully lacking. There are better memory care services available in the area.

Spring Arbor of Greensboro is an excellent place. My mom is a resident of that place for three months now. It is a beautiful place. Everything about it is fine. The food is wonderful. The people are wonderful, and the care is wonderful. I cannot say enough. It is an excellent place, and I want my mother to stay there. It is an apartment type with one bedroom, a kitchenette, and a living room. They have all kinds of activities, but she is limited in what she can participate in because of her needs. They have an activities director. They just recently opened visitations up if you had your covid shots. You have to sign in and you have to answer questions to get in. They were taking temperatures and only one person at a time could come in and visit. My mother says the food is good. It is easy to get around. It is laid out and nicely planned. It is all in one level and easy to get from front to the back. The place is a little pricey.

White Oaks is very nice. The staff is wonderful and I talked to my mom about it. It's a little above her price range, but I have no complaints at all. I think it's a wonderful facility. The rooms were very nice. I saw a 1-bedroom and a studio. The only thing that I think would be a concern for my mom is that there was no laundry facility in the apartment itself, but they were very well-maintained and kept. It's a great place. They have a lot of different things. It's set up a lot differently than they usually have it set up due to COVID, but the amenities were great and they have activities indoors and outdoors, depending on the weather.

My mother moved into Atria Greenridge Place last week on March 4th. The staff is very friendly; from the people at the front entrance to the people that came in and took care of my mother. They're very friendly and kind. It's a beautiful and attractive facility. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are beautiful, and my mom has a lovely room overlooking the courtyard. The halls and the rooms are extremely clean. I've seen the meals being delivered to my mom and they were appetizing. She's been to the dining room twice and she has enjoyed the food too. Of all the places I looked at, they were the best.

My mother is staying at Sterling Care Riverside in Belcamp. They're the most caring, considerate, and loving people I've ever dealt with in my life. They are kind, and they love my mother. It's obvious how much they love her. I've never dealt with people who are so caring toward their residents -- it's phenomenal. Some people would think, "God, I don't want to leave my mother here," because of the things you see on TV about the abuse in nursing homes, but not this place. I don't have any worry that she is there; I know she's being taken care of. She has Alzheimer's and she's wheelchair-bound, so she doesn't want to do anything except watch TV, but they take her out for bingo. They also have people coming in to sing, movies, pizza-making, and painting. She doesn't want to participate but I told them to take her. She's very picky now that she's older, but I love all the food that I've tasted there. The building is not very fancy, but it's very clean, and it's comfortable. I would give them a rating of twenty if I could -- that's how much I love it there.

My father is in Brighton Gardens of Greensboro. It's a clean and modern place. I am not there all the time. I live in New Jersey, and my father is down there, so we haven't had a whole lot of comments about the staff. If there are issues that are statewide about COVID, they will send notifications of their changes and their policies, but as far as my father's personal care, there are no interviews. It's probably not fair right now because everything is in lockdown -- well, in these nursing homes in North Carolina anyway. There had been quite a bit of activities beforehand, but during COVID, they have limited everything, and there are no group gatherings. They are doing everything they can to keep it from spreading and to keep any cases of COVID out of there, so there are very few social activities going on -- but that is because of COVID. It was good when they gathered in the dining hall, but now they have to deliver the meals to their rooms. Also, the food is not as fresh or of the quality it was when it was delivered straight from the kitchen. My father's studio room is nice. It's got a bathroom and a little kitchenette, and it seems to be perfectly adequate for him. There seem to be so many restrictions with what they can do, and it is not good for the residents because they can't go around and meet with everybody else. However, from that aspect, it's great that they are in a place where it is safe, and there are nurses around if there is a problem.

I visited Brookdale Farmington two years ago, and they had a nice price range. Not all the rooms were up to par, however. They were older, and the building itself was very old. The setting where it was located was absolutely beautiful. It's a very nice area. The food was OK, but it wasn't great. The staff who accommodated me was terrific. The thing that got me was the age of the place. Everything was just old and needed updating. It was clean, but old. It was homey though. I have to say they did their best to make it look like a home. They had nice sitting areas and those things were very nice.
