McCrite Plaza Topeka looked very, very nice. The apartments were nice, and it looked like they had quite a few activities. When we went in, there was a board up by the lobby that showed the activities for that month, days trips, and that kind of thing. We were with the marketing director who I had communication with. They had a pub and a beauty shop, and they showed me those things. It's really a nice setting, and it looked excellent. We saw the restaurant part and it looked really nice. We had mom with us when we were there, and the residents came up and started talking to her, telling her about the facility, and that really impressed me. The residents were friendly and outgoing.

The people at Oak Creek Senior Living seemed nice, but it's not as clean, nice, or as spacious as the other facilities I saw. The rooms didn't look very nice. The staff was OK. The dining area was small and crowded. They had a library and an activity room with a TV in it, and that was basically it. The place had to be updated and a lot of things had to be straightened out there, like the shower facilities and the rooms as well. There's nothing really attractive about the rooms.

Legend at Capital Ridge was very nice, very clean, and very new. The apartments were very nice. The person during the tour seemed to know his job and very polite.

Legend at Capital Ridge is very comfortable and everyone is really nice, so we're quite pleased. They have quite a bit of activities, and most of the time the food is very good. The staff is warm and really nice and our apartment is very comfortable. They have a game room, a theater, people would come in and serenade and sing. There are a lot of visiting areas where we can sit and visit. There's coffee and ice water available. It's really nice. Our room is very nice and attractive.

Thornton Place was a very nice place but a little high priced. The apartments were kind of small, and I wasn't too happy with the heating and air conditioning set up. They had the wall units in each apartment, but they were in the living area and not in the sleeping area, so you had to leave your door open between your living area and sleeping area if you had a bedroom as opposed to studio. There's not great air circulation and I had concerns that it might be uncomfortable in more extreme weather. The food was good and the people were very friendly. The amenities were very good.

Thornton Place was very nice. I had an appointment, and they met me at the door, asked me questions about my situation, and took me on the tour. They had cottage style places, but they were all rented. I was shown three different styles of rooms, the dining, and their activities. The staff gave me an activity calendar and a monthly menu. It was very informative and the residents were very cordial. It was a very pleasant experience. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. The room was small and was like a hotel suite. They had two separate exercise places and a room set up for playing cards, board games or puzzles. They had multiple entertainment areas. The staff was very nice. Everybody was very pleasant. I was impressed that they had scheduled meals. They had a separate room where residents can get popcorn, fresh fruit, and snacks throughout the day. It seemed to be in very good repair and very clean, and the carpets were nice. I didn't see any place that needed attention.

I thought Thornton Place was a great place, but I don't think we are going to do anything right now. The place was clean and up-to-date. The rooms were nice. They showed us the calendar of activities. The staff members were very nice; they still keep in contact.

Thornton Place's people are very nice, but there's a lot of theft going on and they don't want to do anything about it so you have to watch every little thing that you have because they'll steal right out from under you. The food's wonderful. All the meals are very good and they do all kinds of chicken, pork, and salads. They play bingo and cards.

I had a very good tour of Legend at Capital Ridge. It was very nice and clean. What I really liked was that they have devotional Church services once a week. The food was pretty good, and the staff member who assisted me was good. They have an outside courtyard for their memory care residents, which was nice.
