I visited this facility

I was there to visit a friend on July 12. I never saw such a gorgeous place for a retirement community… I would give you 10+ stars. I am so happy. My elderly friend is living. There is a beautiful beautiful spot. Thank you so much for all the work you do.

Do not let your loved one stay there. From number 2s left to dry in room to falling, there is very little employee involvement

I visited this facility

I went to visit a facility at Canco road in Portland called The Woods. It was very, very nice but it was so expensive I couldn't afford it. I only met one person there and he seemed to be very nice. I don't know if they have a community room because of Covid going on. They showed me a 1-bedroom apartment, I thought it was a little bit small. There was no place to put things, there was not enough storage, it was very clean though. There was no courtyard. Everything was fine, everything was very orderly and it was very nice.

My brother is at The Woods at Canco. All the people there are very positive and very kind. I was impressed with the reactions of all the other people who are living there who seem to be very happy. They are all reaching out to my brother to walk him in there, so that's kinda cool. They haven't had one case of virus yet, which is a good thing. They have a very good program in as far as the entry into the building to make sure that everyone is questioned and temperature is taken and so on and so forth. They have excellent facilities. They're very nice and it's like they're living in a hotel. You have your own little apartment, which comes out into the hallways, and there are three floors. There is a library and a chapel. There are some rooms that are larger, but his room is the smallest one, which is the least expensive and came closer to his budget. They have a servant that is serving meals in the room so they're dropping food outside the door on the chair and knocking on the door. All of those are delivered in a container that you can eat out of and you put the container back out. They ran it by to see if they can reuse them and then throw out in a dishwasher. I'm impressed with them so far, like when they came and helped us set up the TV so that my brother could have 100 stations, which is kind of nice. It's a perfect spot for him. They have a large dining room that was only allowing 20, now up to 30 people. They had three tables put together and cart table at the tables. Overall, they are separating everyone and they're doing a really good job of social distancing. Everybody is required to wear masks. They do exercise programs every day and activities that you can or don't have to get involved with if you don't want to. They also offer bus programs. They have a bus that takes you to the store so you can have groceries. About three days a week they take on a bus that handles 20 people, but they only allow five. They make three to four rounds, so if you need to go to the store you can, but quite honestly, I feel like you're gonna get very used to the meals that they are offering because their food is good. None of the rooms have cooking capabilities. All of the apartments have no stoves. There's only a bathroom for shower, but they also have a little sink for your kitchen there with a counter over next to the refrigerator. It's all very small. They have an exercise program once a day where they go through a whole series of exercises. They have people there that are in wheelchairs, in walkers and in canes, and they all do various exercises in the arms and legs, and that's a good thing. Every night they have a movie at 7:00. Everybody can come into the movie. You can write up movies you personally want to see and put it in as a suggestion.

I visited this facility

We visited The Woods at Canco, but it's private pay, and we can't afford it. It was a very nice facility, everybody was friendly, and the staff was awesome. It was very clean and very independent. We saw their studio apartments. They had a TV display in the dining room with a list of activities going on for the day. They had a bible circle, and they had a bunch of things going on. We saw the laundry room and a grand piano.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into The Woods at Canco a month ago. The managers went out of their way to help me out, and so I'm very impressed. I have an efficiency-apartment, like a studio, with a separate bathroom, and a separate kitchen. They have 1-bedroom, and 2-bedrooms. They've got an activity every hour of each day, every week of the year, and I can't believe how many activities they have. If you look at the calendar, every day has an activity, whether it's whistle blowing, or putting together puzzles. I'm interested in joining the book club, there's a good size library, they probably have at least 500 books in there, and there's an exercise room as well. They have a treadmill, a bicycle, and a combined bicycle/rolling machine. The meals are good, the objection I have to their meal structure, is there's too much time in between the introductory coffee and dessert. You cannot have your dinner, or breakfast, within a half-hour time slot, which I do not like. You have to wait and wait, and I don't like the waiting. I think they should have 2 elevators going up to the various rooms.

I visited this facility

The Woods at Canco was beautiful. I loved it. I saw two rooms and one had a door to go outside. It had a little deck and porch in the back. The other room was smaller and more in the middle of the facility; I didn't like that one. What I really liked was the little house with the garage. It was very modest, but it was a nice place for retired people. The staff was fantastic. Going up their stairs was like being on a cruise ship. It was so pretty, and they had chandeliers everywhere. The dining room was like a five-star restaurant, and it was beautiful. The people were seated, being waited on, and they were having very pleasant experiences. There was a man who demonstrated some yoga, and they have a library and a music room. It was just too expensive for us.

My mother was in The Woods at Canco. I thought it was a nice facility. She turned 89 in June, but she didn't like it there because she said they were all old people. The staff was very good. Her complaint was they were supposed to come every week to clean the room and sometimes it would be three weeks before they would clean them. She had a studio and they had laundry facilities, supposedly they did the cleaning, and they had transportation to and from doctor appointments, the grocery store, or the pharmacy. There was also a period of time when the bus was broken down so there was no transportation. They had a library and a beauty shop. The food was good, but it was repetitive. There wasn't as much variety. There's always something going on.

We visited the Woods at Canco, and it was very nice. It was what we were looking for; however, it was expensive. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable. We didn't see anybody milling about.
