Not enough staff to provide care Good people but sadly much under staffed which resulted in poor care. Had to move My parent to another facility with better care.

My father was in the American House West Bloomfield. It was a nice facility, it was neat, and it was clean. I think they lock everybody down in their rooms, and that's a problem for my dad. The staff was very nice, except that they couldn't handle my father. I wish they would have done something more. I put my dad there for two hours, he had a fit, and I had to pick him up. They said, "I can't handle this outburst, come pick him up." I saw the breakfast, it looked like mush, it was very small, and it did not look appealing. It was a very nice facility with a very pretty, pretty décor. They had a kitchen and a nice apartment. They need to try to manage people who don't want to be there, and they need to have some more training redirecting people, they just can't give up. They have a beauty salon and a library in the corner.

I chose American House West Bloomfield, it was an excellent visit. The people there were excellent, they're well-run, and I'm moving there this month. I looked at their cheapest units which are the studio apartments, they had 2 different ones to select from. I chose one and they're holding it for me. It was clean and bigger than the other ones that I had looked at. I think they had an exercise pool that you could use. They provide 3 meals a day and snacks. The unit that I chose looks out over a courtyard, and washers and dryers are right across my room so I can do my own.

Brookdale Grand Blanc was beautiful, and my cousin said that they treated him like a king. He was happy there. They were good, they were awesome, and they cared about their people. The staff was a very caring staff, and I got feedback from them constantly. I met the nurses on staff, they were good, they came in and introduced themselves to him, and they were all awesome. They have different sizes of rooms depending on what you want, they were clean, and everything was great; they also have storage. Every time the staff would pass his room they would stop by and talk to us. The food was great, and if he didn't like something they would make him something else.

It was a nice place and I liked it. The tour was really good and the guy who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable since he had been in the field for a long time. He was very kind and patient. They had 1-bedroom apartments. They have a dining area and a nice little place to walk around outside. The place is hard to get lost in and it's not confusing, which is really good.
