My Dad was allowed to suffer for 4 weeks due to inability to swallow. He was given apple sauce and ice cream but not enough calories to sustain weight. I contacted Ombudsman who got him seen by an ENT. Was referred to fantastic neurologist who hospitalized my Dad immediately for failure to thrive. He is 6’1” and weight dropped to 145. He was given 2 bags of IV fluids for dehydration while still in the ER. Tests revealed he had 2 recent mini strokes. Facility nurse practitioner and physician saw him at least twice weekly at GV for 4 weeks and never sent him to doctor nor did they order any tests. If family hadn’t intervened, he would have continued to decline until it was too late. Blatant negligence for not providing medical care!!!!!
