Overview of Missouri Memory Care
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services oversees the licensure and regulation of all senior care facilities including memory care and assisted living communities with special memory care wings. In addition to its supervisory role, the department also provides resources that families and caregivers can use to learn more about memory care. Residents of Missouri memory care facilities are fortunate to live in one of just 17 states with a nationally designated Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Funded by the National Institute of Health’s National Institute on Aging, The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center located at the Washington University School of Medicine conducts cutting-edge research into the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.
