We have been at this location for over one and one half years. The new Executive Director , Biljana, is wonderful, understanding, empathetic, and compassionate, and has an open door policy. She is available to speak to with concerning all issues and addresses them quickly. Since she arrived, The Bristal Waldwick has seen a positive change for residents and their families. It is always a pleasure to speak to her. She has many positive ideas to help families and residents cope with sometimes difficult situations that a resident may be dealing with. Thank you for all your hard work.

My mom came to sunrise at Cresskill in August 2021. We asked about increases. They said they were on average 3%%. We just got our increases for 2022 and after being here less than 5 months they want to increase our rates 10,000 a year for a studio apartment. I called management and they did very little. I have called corporate in Virginia I spoke to a couple of people and they said 5bey would get back to me. They did not. I have left at least 3 messages This place is a money making machine and they are very deceptive on their raises and they are inflexible. Please beware of their deceptive selling practices and expect large increases

I went but they were on a lockdown. It's hard to judge because it was empty and eerie with the residents locked in their rooms. The person who was supposed to to take us around didn't come to work that day, so we had to wait for their general manager to come and give us the tour. The home is right down the street from a major cemetery, and I just didn't feel comfortable. The general manager was very good. He wanted to make a good impression and help us out, but you could tell that he wasn't the regular tour guy. The rooms we saw were a studio and a one-bedroom. If it was located somewhere else it would have been fine.

My mother is happy in here. Prior to this, it was a Marriott Hotel, so each room is set up with a dining room, a kitchen, separate rooms and each room has a kitchenette. They're very nice. The staff is perfect, they're very nice and very caring. The food is excellent and there's actually a chef on site. They have daily activities there, they do a whole bunch like bingo, movie nights, singing, caroling, there's a lot. It's fun 7 days a week.

My grandmother stayed at the Prospect Heights Care Center a few times. She was there for rehab and we also use them if I go away on business. It seemed very appropriate for her needs. It had the feel of being almost hospital like, but very comfortable at the same time. The staff was very good at answering any questions and staying on top of the needs of the patients. They have physical therapy, painting, they play games, and entertainment comes in and sings for them. The food comes to their rooms, they have a very nice menu, and they prepare it very well. They always seem to be cleaning, and it's a very good value for what they offer.

My husband did his rehab at CareOne at Teaneck. It went very well, and he has been there twice. The PT was excellent. My husband was able to maneuver with a walker during the last admission and he came around very well. I didn't have problems with them. My husband loved the food. They have a full PT department there, and they also have a lot of activities for the residents. They have very pleasant surroundings and valet parking which makes it easy for families.

My brother moved into Sunrise of Paramus, he's getting the top care and I'm pleased with them. The staff is excellent. He's a big challenge and doesn't do anything, but they're very nice. He can't hear so they made a booklet for him asking him if he wants them to help him get dressed, or if he wants this or that during lunch time. I couldn't be more pleased with the way they handle him. He has one room. There's always something going on. They play games with them, go out with them, and people always come in to entertain them. It's very nice. Right now he's on pureed food, so they're doing the best they can with him. The layout of the place is like a home or a grand hotel, and it's lovely. If you're willing to participate in activities, there are games and so on. I don't think they could do more than they're already doing. I was so happy with Sunrise. I'm so impressed with Barabara, the director of sales, who's caring and nurturing. Because of the camaraderie of the staff, I chose this place right away.

I toured and I wasn't thrilled with the place at all because it was too big. They showed me the room, and we walked through where all the people were. Betsy was good and did her job. I saw an apartment that was like an efficiency room. They had a whole daily calendar, including bingo, story time, and so on. There's always something if you're willing to participate.

The biggest factor impacting the cost of care is the level of care an individual needs. Nursing home care in a semiprivate room ($12,091) is more than double the cost of assisted living care and substantially higher than home health costs. Assisted living is an economical choice when it comes to seniors who need assistance with activities, such as meal prep, dressing, bathing and medication management. These costs are typically built into assisted living plans along with room and board and some utilities. Home health costs don’t include an individual’s home upkeep, but usually include light housekeeping, meal prep and personal care assistance. Cost of Homemaker/Home Health Aide Comparison Chart

Elderlife Bridge Loan
Elderlife Financial Services offers short-term loans for seniors who need immediate funding for assisted living or nursing home care while they’re waiting for long-term solutions, such as the sale of a home or benefit approval. Funds are sent directly to the care facility and are paid back in flexible, low-interest installments.
Eligibility is based on factors such as income and creditworthiness, and approvals can be as fast as 24 hours. Seniors who can’t qualify on their own can include up to six cosigners, which may increase the likelihood of approval and result in lower payments. Installments can be split amongst family members. Lenders typically require that a permanent funding plan be in place prior to loan approval.
Seniors can apply for a bridge loan online or by calling (888) 228-4500.
Long-Term Care Insurance
Some insurance providers offer long-term care insurance policies that can cover the cost of assisted living facilities and nursing homes after an annual deductible is met. These policies can’t help seniors in current need of long-term care but may be available to those who are still relatively healthy and independent but want to plan for the future. Eligibility and terms vary by provider and plan.
Senior centers offer residents a place to socialize, remain active and receive guidance. These centers prevent isolation and provide various activities, including nutrition programs, health and wellness checks, educational information and day trips.
