We placed a 95 year old family member at Orchard Heights in October. She had been cared for around the clock for nearly a year by family. She was suffering from dementia. She walked in on her own using a walker. A week later she was in the hospital due to extreme dehydration. We paid extra for enhanced care. My Sister-in-Law who is a PA said the ER Doctor could not believe she was in this condition in a week’s time. They kept her at the hospital and she died a week later. This level of neglect is astounding.

My mother stayed at Peregrine Senior Living at Orchard Park. Everything was good except they could not give her the one-on-one care that she needed. She would get up and forget her walker and fall. The staff was great, but they couldn't keep her safe. They had an exercise class in the morning, crafts, music, people who come in and talk, there was bingo, and games. The food looked OK.

We decided on Peregrine Senior Living at Orchard Park for my mom. It's a good place for her because she's free to move around the community but it's also safe from wandering. So we're happy with that. The food is home-cooked sandwiches and things that are simple which she remembers, so she eats well there. We went to a Thanksgiving dinner with the family there which was lovely, and there will be another Christmas gathering next week. So we are satisfied to date. Mom has a private room, and it doesn't seem like they clean it as they should. If you say something like it needs to be vacuumed or there are no towels in the bathroom, they do get on it. But that would be a drawback for me. They have activities and there are some church-related things that are good for my mom. She doesn't participate in their sing-alongs and exercise, but that's just a personal choice. So far, there has been no reason not to be happy with them, but I still haven't met all that many of the staff members.

Orchard Heights was very beautiful but too expensive. They put nice furniture in the rooms. The staff member I met was pleasant and informative.

My husband was in Father Baker Manor. It was very nice. It was the place where he was most comfortable. From what he told me, the staff members were very nice and very friendly. They couldn't do enough for him. They did a good job with the physical therapy. The food was great. My husband loved the food. He even wrote a note thanking the cafeteria and complimenting them.

We moved our parents into an assisted living situation at Orchard Heights about a month ago. They have 24-hour care. It has independent as well as assisted living and it's one of the few in New York state that has enhanced assisted living, which means they also have hospice care and memory care unit. Their big thing is you age in place -- you never have to leave once you're established. The place has just gone through renovations. It's quite lovely and my parents' suite is brand new. The staff is extremely sweet and caring. They have a chef there and they have really nice food. For my parents to say it's really nice food, it's definitely really nice food. They have many choices. They have a standard menu you can pick off and two other choices if you don't like those options. It's very good food. Everyone eats in the dining room, there's no eating in your room. You're served like you're in a restaurant, which is very sweet. It's a lovely place. They're very careful about the staff they pick. There are a ton of activities 24/7.
