Amber Glen gave me a good feeling. The lady who showed us around was very competent and spoke to many of the residents and knew them personally. The facility was very nice. People seemed to be happy and satisfied with their meals. It was a good atmosphere. The number of people was sizable but workable, not overflowing. Everybody was satisfied with the situation they were in.

I was struck by how extraordinarily clean Brookdale Urbana is and how the furnishings looked pretty much like new. I was very impressed with the operation, but my sister is very stubborn. The staff had to do considerable efforts to make sure that she was OK, that she was fed, cleaned up, and considering how little she cooperates with them, I think that they are saints. They don't complain about her, they just do their jobs and were getting by. She may get better because of having a good deal of proper medical attention. It involves their staff and especially their nursing staff but also involves the resources that we have out in the community for doctors, nurses, specialists and so on. I've eaten three different meals with her at different times of day, and the food is excellent. You get a private apartment with a separate living room from the bedroom, a kitchen, and a bathroom. It's really excellent. She can have fresh food in her refrigerator. We furnished that apartment. She went into a new apartment.

We're happy and very satisfied with Bickford of Champaign. The staff and the food are really good. They seem to have a lot of staff who check on my uncle pretty regularly. They give him prescriptions, bathe him, and help him change his clothes. The food is really good; every time I've eaten there, I really liked it. It's a smaller place, and that's what I liked about it. There are only 14 or 15 people who come to a meal, so they get lots of attention.

This place is smoke and mirrors. I would NEVER entrust someone I loved to them ever again. We did a surprise visit and were appalled. We pulled her out the next day without hesitation. My grams was being served coffee which she wasn’t allowed to have for health reasons and they knew that. Her socks hadn’t been changed in I don’t know how long they were heavy they were so full of dead skin. Her teeth hadn’t been brushed in again I don’t know how long but a mouth should never smell like that. Her depends were to small and no one notified us to change her size. Her legs were swollen from not being elevated enough. They were supposed to encourage her to walk and she was just left in a chair all the time. And to top it all off she had such a bad UTI you could smell it standing beside her. Her condition they allowed her to live in brought me to tears. We took her to a doctor the next day to confirm and clear up her horrible infection. If you DONT CARE at all about your loved one send them here. It “looks” nice and they put on smiles in front of you but they DO NOT take care of your loved ones. BE WARNED.

My father is at Bridle Brook. It's excellent. I like it and he likes it. He has a studio apartment and it has a good floor plan. The food is very good. They make everything from scratch. He hasn't participated yet, but they have singing, dominoes, word puzzles, outings, and on Friday nights before dinner they have music and wine. There are a lot of things to do. There's even a pool table. They also have bible study, church on Sundays, movies, and once a month they have a family night where you can have your family come. They have dinner and they'll have a presentation like music or a movie. The staff is very friendly, just very personable, and very caring.
