Other Financial Assistance Programs for Assisted Living
Residential State Supplement Through Ohio’s Residential State Supplement program, qualifying seniors may be eligible to receive financial assistance to help pay for residence and care in a Class Two Residential Facility. These facilities provide up to 16 unrelated residents with accommodations, personal care services and supervision. While assisted living homes with a capacity for 17 or more individuals do not generally qualify, they may be approved by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services on an individual basis if they exist in an area where there are no other eligible facilities. Senior residents may qualify for RSS if they meet the following conditions:
- Meet a protective level of care or live in a nursing home and are willing to move to an eligible facility
- Are eligible for Medicaid
- Receive Supplemental Security Income, Social Security or Supplemental Security Disability Insurance
