It’s close to our home so can walk in anytime and the nurses were dressing my friend and having a good time with him as he is 100 percent disabled He likes it there they give him baths and they feed his food to him He had a bed sore and they changed his mattress and he is pain free now that is the main reason he ended up there his mom could not do the bedsores anymore as she is getting to old to take care of him I don’t know what she would done with out Majestic Oaks

I wasn't too happy with Allegria at the Oaks. They didn't know I was coming and they didn't have the appointment ready. I didn't think they had much to offer, it's a little small, and didn't seem to have a lot of activities. I got to peek into somebody's room, I couldn't go in but I saw that it's just a small room or a hospital room.

Brookdale Northampton is a little more expensive. I'm a 100% Irish, and they even have an auditorium where Irish dancers would come in. If I had my choice and my mother had more money, we would be there. It's a beautiful place. The staff knew everything about my mother. We were talking on the phone months prior, and she remembered everything. The staff was excellent, the tour was excellent, it was THE place. The rooms there were very nice. If you want to have Thanksgiving dinner with your mother they have big private dining rooms for you to have and you just tell them when you would use them. At the end of the hallways, they had a kitchenette with dining room tables for people to share food if they want to cook for their relatives. They even have washers and dryers at the end of the hallways if you want to wash something for your loved one. It's really good. Depending on your budget, the rooms range from pretty large studios to just a room. It's a little more expensive than the other places but I wouldn't say it would break the rank. They have game rooms, people frequently come in entertaining, they have a beauty salon, and a library. You could also get a 1-bedroom suite or 2-bedroom suite if you want. They have rooms for every need, they have assisted living and dementia care when you need it, going up to full care. They don't offer meals there.

Brookdale Northampton was excellent. However, when I was there, there wasn't much going on. The rooms were very nice. The staff members were very nice too. They have a beauty salon and a seating area. The place was very clean.

We toured Hidden Meadows on the Ridge & The Laurels. It's a large facility, but there weren't a lot of residents around at the time. The rooms were nice sized, everything was clean, and the people that I met were very nice. The Laurels was the memory care part and everything was kept clean. They do games to help their cognitive abilities, they have outings and standard amenities, and my aunt can bring her dog, but with charge. The memory care is all ground level, and the assisted living part has three floors. Overall, it's a great place, beautiful, kept up, the landscaping was nice, and it's in a quiet area. The campus was not on a street, so it's very nice, and it's well maintained inside and out. They had a garden, too.

My mom has moved into assisted living center at Allegria at the Oaks. I chose them because my mom's friend was there until he passed, and it seemed to be a decent place. My mom got to know the staff there, so when she was ailing, she chose to go there. There was some issue where clothes were disappearing. Somebody also took her iPhone charger. The staff seemed to be knowledgeable that this happened. They explained to my mom that they put her name on it and hide it. Then what they did was, they changed their laundry crew to an outside crew so they made a change to improve that. They promised that they would put her clothes away. Then, after I paid and left, my mom's things were left out for weeks. I called about it but they still hadn't put her things away like they said they would. If you are able to do lots of things yourself, Allegria at the Oaks is nice place. However, if you need any kind of special attention, it is not the place for you. Like if you come out of rehab and you have to go to the bathroom a few times during the night, you can't guarantee that you're going to be taken care of. They gave my mom a call button to help with that situation and that works for a day, but then any time after that, she would buzz me and then I had to call them. I actually had to talk with the nurse. It seemed that there is a disconnect between the management staff and the actual people who do the work. There are three different head nurses since my mom has been there for six months. The head nurse is not the problem at all; it is the actual workers. The management staff has every good intention, are responsive, communicative and great, but the actual worker bees are not good. They remodeled the place, but it only made it look pretty. It didn't functionally change anything for my mom. The activities are excellent though.

We moved into The Birches at Newtown and it's OK. I did a lot of physical therapy in the beginning and then as I started to feel a little better, I went to regular sit and fit regulations. They have entertainment occasionally, which I like, since it's nice to see different people with their talents. Gradually I'm getting to do some more things that are going on. My husband is getting more active as well and getting quite a bit of physical therapy for his legs and back, so he's kept busy with that. He likes the entertainment too. He's made a big improvement. The staff is friendly and very good at knowing how to meet new people and how to adjust to each person's personality. We like meeting the new people in the dining room and now we've established some friends.

Twining Village was an excellent community, and the help was all top-notch. They have just about everything, they have a swimming pool, and their dining facilities are beautiful and excellent. They also have memory care aside from assisted living. The only thing I didn't like about them is that their assisted living apartments were very small; although it might be adequate.
