Visiting nurses, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and other experts help seniors stay healthy and active. Staff are trained in using the Hoyer lift for assisted transfers and can also administer injections. Residents with Alzheimer's or dementia are provided with support to reduce stress and confusion.
Amenities include an indoor common area, on-site devotional services and a program of social activities and physical exercise to keep seniors active and engaged. Three meals are served each day and special diets, such as vegetarian and kosher, are accommodated. Serenity Senior Residence operates inside of a handsome red brick building at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by a residential neighborhood in Metairie, Louisiana. Situated less than a mile away from East Jefferson General Hospital, Serenity's community is located between the Mississippi River and the Lakefront Trail that runs along the bank of Lake Ponchartrain, where seniors can walk their dogs or stop for a game of tennis at Lakefront Country Club.
Seniors at Serenity have as much independence and privacy as their health allows. Staff at the facility provide assisted living services such as bathing assistance, medication reminders and home-cooked meals. Laundry and housekeeping are provided for, as are beauty and hair care needs. Seniors who need constant care get 24-hour supervision and comprehensive care from qualified nursing staff who can coordinate with residents' doctors to ensure compliance with a treatment plan.
Serenity Senior Care is a secure facility with locks and alarms on all of its doors and windows. A large covered patio is available for residents who smoke, or who wish to lounge on the facility's outdoor furniture. Community events at Serenity include games, twice-weekly sittercise classes, bingo and movie nights. Staff members work with families to plan birthday parties for residents.
