<p>Every relationship we have with a resident at North Woods Village of Kalamazoo begins with his or her life story. Quite simply, we get to know our residents. We talk with families, ask questions and learn about each individual's life. Most importantly, we listen. We learn about the family, the resident's profession, passions, interests. What they loved to do, what inspired them, fulfilled them and made them happy. We carry that information in our heads and in our hearts, and that knowledge shapes everything we do for that resident.</p>

<p>Knowing such personal information, we are able to tailor our engaging programming to each person's individual tastes, interests and abilities. <p>Friendship Village is a private non-profit senior living community that provides Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Rehabilitation. Independent Living offers unique care-for-life contract options. This means anyone coming into Friendship Village through independent living gains both health and financial securities as part of LifeCare. Assisted Living residents enjoy private apartments, personalized care plans, and a neighborhood-style layout. Our highest level of care is a 5-star rated skilled nursing community. <p>Bethesda Ranch is an adult family home located approximately 9 miles from the center of Kalamazoo and just minutes from Sugarloaf Lake. The neighborhood is mostly residential, including small stores, restaurants and churches. The West Center bus route has a stop nearby that may be helpful to visitors who can't drive.</p>
<p>All residents are in private rooms with TV, heater and furniture, as well as various safety alarms to notify staff of any issues. Bethesda Ranch is a smaller community with a high ratio of care givers to residents 2 staff for 5 residents and there's a registered nurse on-site. Staff accompany the residents on group outings for lunch every Tuesday and Thursday.</p>
<p>Residents at Bethesda Ranch can take part in game nights and pizza parties every week, as well as regular trivia, cards and social activities that bring people together. Friends and family are welcome to visit any time and take advantage of the large outdoor spaces to host parties or other events.</p>

<p>Espanola House is a residential care home that provides Alzheimer's care, catheter care, wound care and incontinence care and can administer prices on a sliding scale. Floor plans include one-bed and two-bed units. The community administers injections and medications, and the staff is trained in one-person assisted transfer techniques. Visiting podiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists and physical therapists offer specialized services. </p>

Under the oversight of on-site physicians, licensed nurses develop residents' personalized care plans, which may include medication management and assistance with bathing, eating and other activities of daily living. To help residents navigate the facility, memory boxes containing mementos from their pasts are located outside of their suites. </p>
