Our rehabilitation department is committed to promoting the highest level of independent functioning for all short-term patients. For our long-term residents, this objective is complemented by additional therapies to prevent avoidable decline in function and independence. Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy services are available up to 7 days per week, as needed and prescribed by a physician. All therapy services are individually designed based upon the needs and capabilities of the resident/patient and are directed by our inter-disciplinary team, including experienced and licensed therapists.

SUBACUTE REHABILITATION
Our subacute rehabilitation program is designed for individuals who have been discharged from the hospital but require short-term rehabilitation in order to return home. With unique training protocols in kitchen, bedroom and bathroom settings, our patients work with a team of specialists to regain the skills and stamina necessary to return back into the community safely and independently.

LONG-TERM CARE
Sunset's long-term care services provide family members with peace of mind knowing that their loved one's daily needs are being met around the clock. Residents receive comprehensive treatment from a full team of health care providers, including physicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, therapists, nutritionists and more. The team focuses on providing high quality hands-on care and assistance with activities of daily living. A special focus is given to retaining residents' overall function while ensuring dignity and quality of life. 

SECURED MEMORY CARE UNIT
Sunset also features a dedicated memory care unit for those with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Welcome to Pounder Hall Inc! Pounder Hall offers retirement living in a secure and safe country setting with city advantages. Enriched and Independent Living apartments are comprised of single, studio and two room accommodations, each with a private bath. As a resident, you can decorate your private room to reflect your own sense of style. Our tenants live together in an atmosphere of contentment each enjoying individual independence. Our staff tends to the many daily tasks that would otherwise interfere with your fullness of life. 
 
If you are able to care for yourself and your medical history does not necessitate nurses, only limited services, such as meals and light housekeeping, you may wish to consider Independent Living at Pounder Hall. Independent Living on the 2nd and 3rd floors provides the freedom of action that is yours to enjoy.
 
For those who may need more assistance in their everyday activities, Enriched Housing is also available on the first floor of Pounder Hall. This program provides 24-hour personal care aides under the supervision of a licensed practical nurse.

Our mission is to reach out to those in the Oneida county community. With daily activities for the elderly, to events open to the general public, there is something for everyone at Ava Dorfman. The Ava Dorfman Senior Center is a not for profit organization, committed to providing advocacy services and activities to adults age 50 and older that reflect senior citizens diverse needs and interest, enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement in the community. We are also committed to promoting and preserving wellness for each and every member.
