<p>With its indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center and expansive, green campus, Sherwood Oaks is planning for the next generation of retirees.  The retirement community opened in 1982 after careful planning by a grassroots effort of retirees who wanted to give themselves and their friends the option to stay in the Pittsburgh area during their retirement.  After years of studying other communities, they patterned Sherwood Oaks after the best of what they had observed during their travels.</p>

<p>The Arbors is located north of Pittsburgh in the suburb of Valencia. As part of the St. Barnabas Medical System, it works closely with St. Barnabas Medical Center, where residents have easy access to clinical specialists, pharmacies and therapy programs.&nbsp;</p><p>The Arbors is an assisted living community that tailors the level of care to each resident's needs. It offers short-term respite care for seniors who need temporary assistance. A memory care program is available for residents living with dementia and Alzheimer's. Residents have daily access to care attendants, who provide assistance with tasks such as dressing, grooming and medication management. Staff physicians implement care management, and therapists offer physical, occupational and speech therapy.&nbsp;</p><p>Spacious rooms feature comfortable decor and furnishings. Residents participate in games, classes and group outings. Family members visit together in the cozy lounge area and the well-kept patio. Residents mingle with one another in the recreation room, the game room and the group dining hall.&nbsp;</p>

The Arbors at St Barnabas

<p>The Grove at Harmony is a skilled nursing facility and assisted living facility in Harmony, PA. With 115 beds, it welcomes seniors who are not fully self-sufficient anymore and require personalized therapy. Surrounded by nature, the center is not far from Harmony's commercial roads and close to parks and walking trails. It also has plenty of parking space.</p><p>The Grove at Harmony assists residents with their daily activities, such as personal grooming or medication management. Helpful and professional staff members, including skilled nurses and therapists, work hard to ensure rehabilitation and comfort. Seniors are given a bracelet so that their movements can be traced in case they get lost or confused. Care is adjusted to individual needs, and meals are served either in a common area or in the residents' rooms. The facility accepts Medicare and Medicaid.</p><p>There are plenty of activities organized daily, including picnics, entertainment and church services. Holiday gatherings are also arranged, and family members and friends are encouraged to participate.&nbsp;</p>
