Windsor House is a good fit for my mother-in-law. It's kind of a smaller home with fifty residents and thirty-eight rooms. We like the fact that they have a mixture of residents there. She can be as independent as she needs to be but also get the care that she needs. They have a doctor on call and nurses come in. They're very attentive to the residents' individual needs in terms of food and lifestyle, so to speak. She's in a single room; she has a bathroom and a living space. They allowed us to bring furniture from her home, and they provide the cable setup in her room. She doesn't have a need for a telephone but they would provide one, and I think there's an extra charge for that. She liked the fact that for the price it was all inclusive; there are not a lot of add-ons because she's on a very limited budget. They play bingo, and they have activities every single day that they can participate in as they wish. Every day they can look at the board with a list of activities available that week, and the residents are allowed to participate if they're interested. They have a library, which is good since she likes to read; they have a living room with a fireplace where they can sit and read; and they have community dining -- it's a nice setting. The activities are a little limited right now due to the COVID shutdown. The staff I've interacted with are very nice, and the layout of the place is very nice.

I visited Windsor House. They charge $2000 a month, and as my husband moves up a level, it does not go up, so it's a flat fee. He hasn't spent one day there yet, but his room is all setup. Everything's taken care of and I'm going to pay to hold that room. He hasn't moved in yet, but they did a fabulous job working with me. We went and stayed in a family room, and the staff took a video with his phone and we liked what we saw. They were very nice. I called several times and I've only talked to the same administrator and customer service person every day, but the med tech was the one that I spoke with during the tour. The room is 310 square feet. It's a deluxe room, and it's semi-private. I ordered everything ahead of time and it got there ahead of time. They have all kinds of activities. They have PT there and basic cable that they pay for. My husband can't operate a cellphone, but they said they probably had an old phone that they could plug up and use. They've got a pharmacy network that takes care of medications, a doctor and nurse that come in once a month and a med tech that delivers the medications. It was clean, homey, and privately owned. They were extremely nice. One of their activities was taking them out to eat. The facility was very traditional. It's not far off from the kind of home we have.

We saw Windsor House just on the outside. The grounds were clean. We saw two rooms from an outside entrance. The rooms were nice and big with their own bathroom, but I think you had to bring your own furniture. One room had furnishings, the other one was empty. With the price, they should provide furnishings because it's a lot of money. I only met one person, and he was very nice. My one big concern is that these things are expensive. They're right against the road, which I don't know if that's too ideal because if somebody tried to walk out or something, they could be in big trouble. There were no gates. I think they probably should have a gate. They're right on Pelham Road, and Pelham Road is a very busy road. They had meals and activities planned, but you had to bring somebody in for care. They should have a gate going to the road, so that people couldn't walk off. The building itself was good. It's nice and clean, and there's a park that you can walk on and a lot of outdoor seating. It felt comfortable there. The only one issue I had was there should've been a gate because it's a very busy road and somebody could just walk out because the rooms had outside entrances. If you're a little confused, you can just walk off and walk out into the street.
