Windlands South was nice and a little bit of an older property. The rooms, facility, and people were nice. Had it been in a different location, I may have chosen it. The only negative that I could come up with was the fact that it had many floors and only two elevators. There seemed to be some issues with people moving in because the elevators were occupied with the residents trying to get up and down. Everything else was nice. They seemed to maintain the property well. The apartment was fine and up-to-date. The facility and the dining room were clean. Everybody seemed to be happy and attended. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the facility. It really boils down to location. The contact person who showed me around was very attentive and kind. Our grandmother would have been very happy there had the location been in a different spot.

I was very impressed with Windlands South. They were very welcoming when I came in and the people seemed very friendly. I liked that the apartment had a full kitchen because I like to cook, and it had a small balcony. It also had a lot of storage space. The manager was very friendly, too. They just made you feel like you were in a place where you've been before. The place was very clean and everything was just really nice.

I toured Windlands South with Rick who I found to be very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very nice. It started pouring down buckets of rain when I was getting ready to leave and he went and got my car for me and brought it to the front door. He's very much a gentleman. He has checked up on me to see if we wanted to stay there and offered us a discounted price. He's very down-to-earth. They had different activity rooms and a theater type room. It looked very clean.

My mother-in-law has moved into Windlands South. It is a wonderful place. Everyone there has been beyond friendly and very helpful to her and to us. I would describe the community as alive and lively. They have lots of different amenities and activities. She played bingo yesterday, they had Easter-egg decorating on Friday, and they had an Easter-egg hunt for Easter. They have a girl on staff whose name is Sarah, and she is the one who organizes everything. They have a newsletter that comes out once a week that tells them all of their options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as what's going on throughout the week. It also has little articles in it about how to meditate and how to become involved. They even have involvement competitions where the more you participate, the more times you are entered to become a participant winner. In other words, they reward people for being involved. They made a big push to get everybody vaccinated, and they had a big vaccination day. They have on-site transportation if they need to go to the doctor, shopping, or wherever; they can take them anytime they want to go. They have scheduled transportation, and they have outdoor outings. I have been very impressed. They also have on-site home healthcare. If they don't have their own doctor, they can use the doctor there who will come and see them. They have all kinds of programs that will come in to help them get medication, physical therapy, or what have you. They also have a little workout room. The building is old, and there are certain things that you could see that could use a little touch, but my mother-in-law has just been made to feel very welcome. She hasn't had a chance to go to activities, but the offerings seem to be very varied in what they offer. They are bringing her food to her room, which is great, and they're doing that because of COVID. You can sign up to go down to the lobby if you're vaccinated. Her only complaint has been that they don't have iced tea. They have a wide array of juices but no iced tea, and she said that they don't give you enough, so I guess she would like larger quantities.

The apartments at Windlands South (Holiday Retirement) was really nice. The only thing I didn't quite like about it, I guess, was the kitchen. They're small and all the older appliances seemed like they were not even updated a little bit, even though the apartment was nice. They should be more updated with appliances and stuff and then I could call this home. They have bingo, you come downstairs and they can do the different activities. It was nice and clean, they showed me the dining area, and that was so nice. The staff was also very nice, and I noticed that their approach was so nice. It was really nice, and it drew my attention. It's more like I went on vacation and went into a hotel. And when I went in it was so beautiful I had to sit up. And the kitchen? I was just ready to eat.

Windlands South is very nice, but I think it would take every penny I make just to live there. The only thing about the apartment was that they didn't have a microwave. I had a meal there, the dining area and the food were good. They were getting ready to do some renovations so it seemed to be very well-maintained.

Windlands South has a very nice lunchroom or restaurant. They seem to keep everything nice and clean. Every time I go to see Pat, her room looks good. They come up once a week to vacuum and dust. We are very happy with what they are offering. They have so many different choices of activities, including bingo, card games, and a movie theater. They had a dance before, and Pat likes to dance.

Windlands South was several stories high and I was shown a 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartment. They also had a studio that I didn't see. I was shown a dining room and a meeting room. The menu looked nice. They had transportation to stores and doctors' appointments, and they generally offered everything a person could need -- except for someone who needed more healthcare. However, you could hire someone to come to the room to take care of that person.

My sister-in-law is now in Windlands South. We chose it because it is in the price range that we can afford. The facility also looks very clean, has a nice appearance, and does not have foul odors. Everything is neat and tidy. They have a lot of amenities and supply activities, like games, and take them by bus to go shopping. However, her room and the other rooms are infested with cockroaches. We tell them many times, and they are supposed to go there and spray, but there are still cockroaches. I think they need to exterminate everything rather than chase them from one room to the next. The provide housekeeping once a week. They have an exercise room, movie room, and bingo. They have enough to keep her occupied and out of trouble.

My father was in Windlands South until he passed away last month. He had a one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, and they had a shared dining room where he could have three meals a day, although the food was not very good. My father really did not participate, but they had activities for the residents and movie nights. The staff was accessible, but they were rude at times. They can improve by having better chefs in there.
