Elmcroft of Cottonwood is a very nice, clean facility. They're very attentive to my parents-in-law and they like it very well. We've been really pleased with it. My parents-in-law are adjusting nicely and the staff seems really nice, solicitous, and helpful. They come by their room all the time checking in on them and reminding them of things and letting them know of what's going on. So far, so good. They have a little apartment with a bedroom, a living room, and a dine-in/kitchenette area with a microwave, refrigerator, and sink. They have different activities all throughout the day. They're having a good time and they're doing some stuff. They have transportation to go to different appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and they take them to Walmart. They've also been on a couple little excursions. They're expensive, but they're actually comparable when you start adding levels of care because they don't have a level of care. They take care of whatever their needs are, whether it be helping with bathing or dressing. It's all considered the same price-wise. You don't have gradual step-ups. They will take care of them until they're bedridden.

Elmcroft of Cottonwood was overmedicating my mother, giving her nighttime medicine round the clock. They neglected her and were sedating her so much that she was falling and covered in bruises. They ended up firing the nurse, but I was on the phone with her several times, and I heard the med aides deny my mom the right of knowing what medicine they were giving her. I had people cuss me out on the phone. It was horrible. She was there for about a month. My mom was supposed to have an independent space but she ended up having a room with a lady, and it smelled like urine. I wouldn't put my worst enemy in there.

We were really impressed with Elmcroft of Cottonwood, but the rooms were so tiny, like less than 400 square feet for a two-bedroom. If you can accommodate being in a tiny area then it's a really good place, but they're also really expensive. The food was delicious. The person who gave us the tour was right on the ball. The clients living there were enthusiastic about it.

Elmcroft of Cottonwood was a very clean community. We liked how willing the director wants to work with us. They're right there if you need to meet the requirements that an average single person would not have. A couple moving into that place would need more space. We encountered the front desk staff and the director. We had lunch there and the serving staff was quite professional, and the food was good. The rooms that we saw there were a standard middle grade assisted living. They were much less apartment styled or hospital styled, but they did have kitchenette facilities. We know that they have bingo for the residents.

My aunt is living at Garden Estates of Temple. She has been there for a little over a month now. The rooms are nice. My aunt likes the food. Everyone is very friendly and outgoing. They help my aunt with medicines, but the rest she does on her own. They do the laundry for the residents, which is an included service. They have a bus that takes them to different places and out shopping. They have game nights, different parties, and movie nights. They also have lots of speakers for churches that come in.
