Optional State Supplement
Utah’s Optional State Supplement is a small cash benefit that’s paid monthly to low-income seniors and those with disabilities who receive Supplemental Security Income. The benefit can help pay for long-term care expenses that aren’t covered by Medicaid, such as room and board in an assisted living facility.
To apply, seniors can call the Social Security Administration at (800) 771-1213.
Elderlife Bridge Loan
Elderlife Financial Services offers bridge loans to seniors who are planning a move to an assisted living community. These loans are a temporary solution for those who don’t have the cash available to cover facility entrance fees, first month’s rent or other transitional costs. Upon approval, Elderlife can send the necessary funds directly to a seniors’s chosen care facility.
To qualify for a loan, seniors must meet minimum income and credit requirements. Elderlife allows up to six joint applicants to make the approval process easier.
To apply, seniors can fill out an application online or call Elderlife Financial Services at (888) 228-4500.
