We chose the Villas at Baer Creek in Kaysville based on a friend’s recommendation, the location being near family members, and the intimate atmosphere present in a small facility. We feel fortunate that Baer Creek had availability, when there was need for our parents. The management has been easy to work with during the transition from home health to hospice and also during the initial arranging for a cabinet and grab bar to meet specific needs. We are very happy with the staff and management and are comfortable with the quantity and quality of the care. They provide stimulating activities and reach out to include the residents. We appreciate the frequent communication with staff/management and the collaborative approach to decision making. Dad passed away recently. The staff served him and us with sensitive and personalized compassion.

We're going to go to Heritage Place in Bountiful. I like it, it was very nice, and everybody was very cordial. They gave us a pick of which room we wanted, and it was nice. The staff members were very nice. They showed me a room where if I ever wanted to do any cooking or baking, I could do it there, or even show people how to cook if they wanted to learn. They went out of their way to be very nice. They had a couple of rooms. They have games and they do different things on different days. They have a room where they do church services too, which I was very happy about. When it gets nice out, they have a place where they can do a little gardening. The staff said the boy scouts built boxes there last year so the residents can grow flowers in them or whatever they want to grow.

Apple Village was really nice, I liked it very much, but I can't afford it. They had living plants everywhere, it was sunny and bright, and it was absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were nice and decent sized. The only thing I didn't like was that I can't cook in them. They don't have a kitchen, they don't have a stove to cook on or anything. That's one of the main things for me because I like to cook. They have some really good activities. When we were there touring, the people were playing bowling. They were sitting in their chairs and wheelchairs and were having a grand time.

I visited Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield, and it was a very nice place. They're also the ones who sent me some food to take home, and it was really good; it was excellent. The staff was excellent. They went out of their way to make sure we saw everything. They showed us where the laundry was if we wanted to do our own, where all the rooms were, and what type of rooms they had. They also told us that if my husband's memory goes completely, we both can move into the memory care section so we won't have to be in separate rooms. They're very accommodating. Price is the only thing that's keeping me from going. It's laid out very nicely so that even if you're a little addled, you would not get lost. It's very easy to walk around and not get lost there.

We went to Apple Tree Assisted Living and that's where my grandparents were, so we're already familiar with the place. It's a pretty large facility, and there's really good staff on hand. I wasn't too keen on the rooms though. Once you get in the room, you kind of feel almost like you're isolated from everybody; it's pretty condensed. The staff is not bad. Most of the staff that we dealt with when my grandparents were there as well as when we visited were pretty good. They had daily activities.
