Vineyard Park at Bothell Landing is nice. Because of COVID, there are a lot of things that we couldn't do. The food depends upon the day, it's not that good, but some days my relative says it's great and that she had a great dinner. The room is very nice, the dining room is really nice, they're helpful at the desk, the facility is nice, and it's a newer building. All of those things are good, it's just that things like getting things and basics are difficult right now. The value for the money is fair, plus there's Spend Down on the Medicaid there, which is helpful. The room is reasonable, the extra services seem a little expensive. They were supposed to give her two showers a week and they would only give her one, so I had to call them. They're getting a new director and there's a big change happening over there.

The most striking thing about North Creek By Bonaventure was the interior. The hallways were beautiful and not straight like a hospital or hotel. They zigzag and were furnished very nicely. I loved this place except for the location. The apartments were very nice. They provided three meals a day and transportation. The staff was very good.
At $5,750 per month, the cost of assisted living in Bothell is the highest in the state according to the 2018 Genworth Cost of Care study. This is moderately more than the state average ($5,135) but dramatically higher than the national average of $4,000. Other expensive locations for assisted living include Bremerton ($5,720) and Mount Vernon ($5,125). Prices are more reasonable in Olympia and Bellingham at $4,250 and also in Wenatchee, where assisted living averages just $4,125 per month.
Note: Senior care cost data wasn’t available for Bothell, so data for the nearest major city, Seattle, was used.

Senior care costs are affected by a number of factors, including the level of care needed, the care setting and the number of service hours provided. The cost of living in a locale also has an impact, which helps account for the high costs of all types of senior care in the Bothell area. Due to the skilled services and 24-hour care nursing homes provide, these facilities are the most expensive option, with rates almost double those for assisted living. In-home care provided by a homemaker or home health aide costs about $350 per month more than assisted living, but the real price difference may be significantly higher when household operating expenses are taken into account. Assisted living rates typically cover room and board, but seniors receiving care at home have to pay expenses such as upkeep, utilities and food in additional to the cost of care.

Washington residents who need assistance with health care costs may qualify for the state Medicaid plan known as Apple Health. This and similar Medicaid programs across the country provide vital coverage for low-income people through a jointly funded collaboration between individual states and the federal government. In Washington, the state program covers doctors visits, emergency and hospital care, laboratory and X-ray services and long-term care services and supports.
Apple Health offers the Community First Choice Option program to give eligible seniors an alternative to institutional care in a traditional nursing home setting. The program allows seniors to receive services at home or in community settings, such as adult residential care and assisted living facilities. Covered services and supports can include:
Optional State Supplementation
Bothell seniors with little income and few resources who are eligible for Supplemental Security Income benefits may also qualify for a monthly cash top-up through the Washington Department of Social and Health Services. These extra Optional State Supplementation funds of $46 per person can be used toward assisted living room and board costs.
To apply for SSI and OSS benefits, seniors can visit the Social Security Administration office at 18905 33rd Ave. W., Ste. 207, in Lynnwood or call (800) 772-1213.
Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly
Bothwell adults aged 55 and older and eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid may benefit from the PACE program. This managed care program’s purpose is to delay or prevent nursing home admission by providing seniors with medical care and long-term care services and supports in the community. The range of services an enrollee receives is determined by their case management providers but may include primary physician, dental and nursing care, necessary medical equipment, personal care assistance, nutritional services and prescription drugs.
To qualify for the PACE program, Bothell residents must live in a provider coverage area as determined by their zip code. For more information, interested seniors can contact Providence PACE intake at (206) 320-5325 or speak to an ICHS PACE enrollment specialist by calling (206) 292-1584.
