Thrive at Augusta was very nice, and that's the one we're gonna hopefully go to. They all seemed really nice and very helpful. They are limited with what they can do with Covid, but everything was very inviting. I only looked at a 1-bedroom, because that's all I was interested in seeing, and it was clean and spacious. They showed me the dining area, a bistro area, and an exercise area where they have physical therapists come, but due to Covid, I could not tour the entire facility. I didn't meet the staff. I only met one lady, and she was awesome.

Claiborne at West Lake is very nice. The staff is very nice. There's not a whole lot of activities. They may have a lot of them that I don't participate in, but I'm not sure. The food is usually OK, nothing wonderful. My room is fine for me because I'm just the only one here. I just live here and do as much as I can. They have a place upstairs where you can go play cards if you want to. The place is always pretty clean.

I toured Brookdale Bloomsburg. The marketing director was awesome. She was very informative. She talked a little bit about Alzheimer's and how they help their residents adjust to living in an assisted living place. She took me around and showed me everything. She was very helpful. Their studio has its own bathroom and a room for a bed, a dresser, TV, and a recliner. I didn't see any activities going on at the time, but she showed me their common area and their patio area where the residents can go anytime. The place is laid out well and very clean. It is one floor so everybody could walk out, which is convenient.

I liked Elmcroft of Martinez. It's nice and well run. The rooms had good layouts. For someone who's going by themselves and doesn't need to walk much, they're a good setup. The staff seemed very professional. They had a nice ice cream parlor room or get-together room.

Washington Commons' rooms were nice, but I wanted a two-bedroom and a kitchen. They don't have kitchens there. They looked like they had a lot for people to interact with, movies, games, knitting, and stuff like that. They told me they had entertainment come in on occasions and that was a good part. The guy took me around and showed me the apartments and stuff. He was very informative and good.

I have decided to go to Washington Commons. It was very good and nice. The people were very friendly and outstanding. The whole atmosphere of the place was totally different from any of the places I visited. The rooms were very nice. I'm moving into a large studio apartment. They have two different sizes there, and I'm moving into one of the large ones. There are all kinds of activities, like church services in the chapel and crochet clubs, where they crochet things to donate. Plus, they have live entertainment on Saturday nights.

Waverly Gardens of Evans comes across as a house that someone converted into an assisted living facility. When we went, they had two nurses on staff, but the salesperson wasn't there so we weren't able to talk to him. They didn't really offer much by way of activities outside of watching TV and gardening. It was pretty much like a bedroom. If you were sharing a room with someone, all you have room for is pretty much a bed and a chair. We were not very impressed with that. They could have more activities and offer a full room rather than half of a room. It should be a little more open and welcoming.

My mother is able to maintain a level of independence at Washington Commons. The meals are provided. The people have been very friendly to her and she gets involved in the activities. She has a little more life and spunk about her now and there's more interaction. The staff bent over backwards for Mom, and she couldn't be happier with it.

Washington Commons was very clean, neat, modern, and bright. It's wonderful. The nice staff showed me around. It looked like there would be entertainment to bring people together. They had a chapel and a library.
