I truly love Atria Valley Manor. It did not have the capability to move up to an assisted living category because it was purely independent living. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous. The layout of the property is excellent. You feel like you are in your own unit because every unit has an outside entrance and most have patios. It is also extremely well maintained, both inside and out. I told the manager if it wasn't for the fact that we need to prepare for assisted living, I would not have moved. I really like that place. The meals were included, but that would be the only thing I have to knock them down on at all. The quality of food in the four years that we were in there seemed to have degraded. There is more fat than meat and that would be my biggest complaint. Some of the meat was also kind of tough. When we first moved there, that was not the case. It was so well maintained, you would never know it was built in the 1960's.

Atria Valley Manor was pleasant, but it wasn't as nice as the other place I visited. The information they gave me wasn't as complete. I had to ask more questions. A very nice young man showed me around. I visited it twice and he took me around both times and there were some things he didn't know. It was a nice place, but there wasn't much going on in the common areas. They didn't have a real library. It's one story and the apartments were a bit bigger than other places, but they were also dark because of the way they were set up. The food was just mediocre. The people were very nice and very friendly.

The people that work here at Atria Valley Manor are very nice. A lot of the people go to their activities and have fun. However, I found out that I really don't need the services that they have here. When I moved in here, they said that they would check on me. Well, my next-door neighbor will come over and see if I'm sick. They gave me a little necklace to call 911 and take me to the hospital. Other than that, only the friends that I have made will come over and check on me. I don't like the food. They're trying to change the menu, like their crab croquettes with chipotle sauce on it, but there isn't anybody here that would eat anything that hot. I could still get a hamburger or something like that, so I'm not left out in the cold with all their specials.

Atria Valley was good. They offered a little slight variance in add-ons and did not allow assisted living. They offered three meals a day, but you'd have to pay for cable, telephone, and Wi-Fi. There were exercise areas with machines and a full calendar of events to do every day of the week. You could have pets.

I visited Atria Valley Manor. It's an old Air Force barracks place and has kind of a cold atmosphere. It's fine for people of very moderate income. There's not much there. Even their restaurant and cafeteria area is very small. I didn't notice any activities going on while I was there.
