We visited Valley Crest Memory Care, which is more of a hospital type setting. The coordinator who gave us the tour was Yolanda, and she was wonderful. They seem to have activities scheduled, and they have both single and shared rooms. The facilities were clean, although a little bit older. We were looking more for a homey type feeling for Mom, but this place felt more clinical. It was a good community and the cost was good, it was just not a good fit for my mom and too far from home. The staff member who accommodated us during the visit was great. I think it's a nice place.

It is right across from Target. There are about six restaurants right around there. They give you food, but Mom likes to go out for lunch and they're within where she could walk, which is about two to three blocks. The location was the best. She didn't care as much for the garden area where you can go outside and sit. It was a little too structured. It has waist high hedges that form little paved paths that you walk on, and you can't walk across the grass. If I were picking for myself, I would've liked the way they had the yard. They had little places to sit around and because of the way the hedges were, it gave you a little more privacy. They had studios and one bedrooms and they had little kitchenettes. The studios did not have an oven. She would prefer in general a one-bedroom just because of the separation of the sleeping and living areas. They have crafts, a hairdresser on-site, and they take them to doctors' visits.

My client is in here. I liked that it's clean, the people who work there are all nice, and it has a good location and activities for the old people. Overall, it's really nice, and the staff is excellent. They have some arts and crafts, games for the seniors, and a book club. They serve three meals a day and in the middle of the day, you can ask for some snacks if you're hungry. They provide the bus to take them to doctors' appointments. They give her assistance with bathing and, because she is on the second floor, they need to take her down to the dining three times a day. She can call them whenever she needs assistance in her room and with her medication. The staff is really nice. I can call them anytime when I want to ask about my client. They give a lot of information and help a lot.

My mother is here. They play bingo, pinochle, Canasta, and golf, and there's a beautiful library. You sit down to be served every meal. I don't have any complaints. The staff is fine and attentive most of the time. They no longer have a manager on-site 24/7. All of the residents have an emergency medical alarm button that they hang around their neck for an emergency.

It had an assisted living and 24-hour nursing which I liked, but it didn't have access outside from your room. You had to go down and choose a common area and out the door. I like being able to walk out of my apartment and be right there outside and this one didn't have that. I had eaten their food twice and it was very good. I took a friend there to show her. Their common area was nice. We went to see a performance where they had a singer come in. They served a glass of wine with the entertainment and that was really nice. They had quite a bit of games and things you can play. They also had a van that takes you to your doctors' appointments. The person that took us around for the tour was nice. The meal was excellent.

The staff was very nice. It wasn't quite as luxurious as other facilities, but there were a lot of activities. They have a bus that takes you to doctors' appointments and things like that. The rooms were a little smaller and not quite as nice, but they were nice. The meals were 9:00 breakfast, 12:00 lunch; I don't know what time dinner was. They had several hundred people in there. I've never seen so many walkers lined up on four walls in my whole life. There didn't seem to be as much flexibility as far as what you're doing at a certain time and meals. We got there at lunchtime, so we got to see the food, and it did not look quite as appetizing. They didn't have a salad bar and you really didn't have much choice.

Valley Crest is a very modern facility. But maybe it’s a bit expensive for the size of the rooms and what they provide. For the price, they should have a phone, internet and a few other things in their room, but they don’t. The food was not appealing. The staff is very courteous and polite. If the visitor has a request for the resident, they accommodate it as best as they can. My friend just felt like there was not enough activity. There’s a large demographic in the community, some are very alert and some are almost in a vegetative state. They geared their programs because they can’t accommodate each patient but they do try.
