My mother lived there for 2 1/2 years before she passed away. They treated her and our entire family as their own. Wonderful people. Very clean and beautiful environment.

It was a very nice place. The apartments were pretty good sized. I really liked it. It's also clean and spacious. I only checked out their studio and one-bedroom apartments, and they had two different sizes for studios. They have a chapel and a hair-styling room, but I wasn't interested in the activities because my uncle cannot do any of those. The staff was very nice, pleasant, and informative, too. They gave me all the details I needed. The dining room was huge, and some of the tables were set very attractively. It was actually perfect because I really didn't see anything wrong, it's just that when I walked into the place, it didn't feel like it was a home. But the place was clean and beautiful, and the rooms were spacious.

We visited here. Everyone was nice. Of course, with the pandemic, people were all in their rooms. They don't have group lunches, group exercises or game time, which is understandable. It looked nice. We just decided that we're going to wait awhile. We saw an apartment, and it looked fine. Everything looked fine. Everybody is kinda sheltered in their rooms right now because of the pandemic. There weren't many activities going on, but that was fine. We met a couple of the staff, and the lady that took us around was wonderful. We didn't try a meal because they weren't serving group meals. We could see the inside of the dining room, but we didn't actually go into it. It was closed off. They had the doors closed, but you could look a little bit, which we did. They had more than one fitness room, and they had group exercises when they're having it. It was good.

My mother moved here. They've been great, very helpful, and my mom is adjusting well, and I love the staff. They have a lot going on, like exercise, bingo, and computer classes. They have bus trips normally. I'm satisfied they have a good support network for the other care. I haven't had any problems with them.

The Terraces of Roseville is more my style. They have assisted living, too. They don't have to change apartments, but they add that service. It is nice and modern, but it is a little expensive. The base price is good compared to other places but they just add on every little thing. All the showers were like walk-in and roll-in. There is nothing to step over and that really stands out to me because I have two adults in wheelchairs. It was impressive. Most of the rooms have islands in the kitchen, so that was nice. The dining room is open all the time.

The Terraces of Roseville is beautiful. It has all been redone. I saw the rooms, which were very nice. It is a very big place, it is off the road, but it is very nice, and very clean. The staff members were excellent. They took care of me. They're good. They have a beautiful courtyard too.

It was excellent. The apartments were very comfortable. They seemed to have a lot of activities. I saw the beauty shop, which seemed very nice. I saw people getting their hair done and they all looked happy. The staff members were excellent. They were very nice to everybody, myself included.

It is only independent living. The overall vibe there, like the staff members, were really positive. The woman who showed us around there was such a sweetheart. I liked how she interacted with my grandmother and other people who live there. She gave a really good impression. My overall impression is that they were really welcoming. They did a few specific things to welcome us. The apartments were pretty nice, and they had little balconies, which was also nice. There were some people playing cards and some were playing a game. I really liked that the residents were interacting in those common spaces. Their amenities were the same as those in other places for the most part.

Sierra Regency was beautiful but expensive. The staff who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable and gave the tour. They also provided lunch for is. The food was good. The room was fine. They had a swimming pool and they had sign ups to go on little trips or errands.

Care Cost Comparison
The type of care needed is the biggest factor influencing the average monthly cost of care, and in cities like Roseville, this is particularly evident. The average monthly cost of nursing home care is nearly double the cost of assisted living, and the cost of home care services is nearly $1,000 higher than assisted living costs. Home care becomes even more expensive when taking into account the other costs that are associated with remaining in the home, such as rent, utilities and general home maintenance, all of which are usually included in the cost of assisted living. Financial Assistance for Assisted Living in Roseville
Medicaid in California
California’s Medi-Cal program is the state Medicaid Managed Care program. There are several waivers under this program that provide financial assistance with different levels of long-term care. The Assisted Living Waiver provides assistance to seniors who have begun to require daily nursing support but wish to continue living in an assisted living facility. It provides these seniors with additional supportive services and helps them avoid further institutionalization. Seniors who participate in the Medi-Cal Assisted Living Waiver program must contribute to their room and board costs.
Seniors applying for this program must require a nursing level of care and be able to continue to live safely in their assisted living community. Financial requirements stipulate that applicants may not have an income exceeding $1,242 for individuals or $1,682 for couples and may not possess assets that exceed $2,000 in value for individuals or $3,000 in value for couples.
To apply for Medi-Cal assistance, seniors can contact their nearest care coordination agency in person or by telephone.
Other Financial Assistance Programs for Assisted Living
Multipurpose Senior Services Program
The MSSP is a waiver program that operates as part of Medi-Cal. It helps seniors access a range of services that may help them continue living in their home or assisted living facility instead of moving to a nursing home. Services that are included under this program vary based on the needs of the applicant but may include nurse visits, respite care, adult companion services and transportation services.
This waiver only accepts 12,000 applicants at one time and does have a waiting list. Eligibility requirements are the same as for the Assisted Living Waiver. Seniors can learn more about the enrollment process by contacting the California Department of Health Care Services.
State Supplemental Payment
Seniors who receive Supplemental Security Income can access California’s State Supplemental Payment benefit should they require additional assistance with paying for room and board costs in an assisted living or nursing home facility. The payment is calculated based on the applicant’s income and needs and pays a maximum of $160.72 each month.
Financial requirements change often for this program, which means it’s best for seniors to contact their local Social Security office or call 1-800-772-1213 and speak with an authorized agent to receive up-to-date information.
Elderlife Bridge Loan
Seniors living in assisted living facilities who don’t have access to Medicaid or other government assistance can contact Elderlife Financial Services to apply for an elder bridge loan. These loans are paid directly to the applicant’s assisted living facility upon approval and are to be paid back by the applicant in monthly installments.
Although eligibility depends on income and credit history, seniors may apply with up to six cosigners to increase their chances of approval.
Long-Term Care Insurance
Seniors who have purchased a long-term care insurance policy prior to needing long-term care can use their policy to pay for the cost of assisted living. Typically, an annual deductible will be required before the remainder of the costs are covered. Eligibility depends on age and health, and plan costs vary between plans and providers.
