Description of Oak Cottage of Santa Barbara Memory Care

Oak Cottage is separated into 3 neighborhoods, specifically designed for residents who are challenged with cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, Lewis body dementia and frontal lobe dementia. Our neighborhoods of 11-15 apartments open onto a gracious and secure grand room with areas for dining, activities and views to outdoor patios and deep-set porches. Our apartments all have private entrances and you may choose between private or shared bathrooms. Each apartment has 11 foot ceilings with a private counter and storage area including a small refrigerator and bar sink. We love our residents and consider them family so every opportunity to celebrate important events in their lives is duly celebrated. Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, special events in S.B. are all excellent reasons to celebrate. We love to show our residents a great time.

Thoughtfully designed to connect you with family, friends, and the community; our Vibrant Life program truly inspires, challenges — even dares you to be adventurous… With a host of outings, we create a schedule based upon your interests, preferences, routines, and abilities. Whether it is morning exercise, a sing-a-long at the piano, a trip to local attractions, or a dance with entertainment provided by local musicians, it’s your choice to join in the fun. Monthly Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group Held on the first Tuesday of the month from 3:00pm-4:30pm Monthly Joyous Movement Class-Dance Fitness class for people with early memory loss and their care partner. Held the 4th Saturday of the Month from 10:00am-11:00am. Teepa Snow, an expert in dementia care/training presented a training and workshop to our caregivers
