My mom was at Sterling Inn. It has a terrific reputation, it was great, and it was fantastic. It's probably the nicest assisted living facility I've ever seen. My cousin visited my mom and he is a minister, so he's been to many facilities, and he also said this place is the nicest by far that he's ever seen. The staff is great, very caring, and they take excellent care of your loved ones. I didn't eat the food myself, but my mom said it was good. There was a variety in the activities and a lot of options, everything from bingo, to cards, chair yoga, exercising, movies, and trips. They took such good care of my mom that we were able to bring her home.

My mother is a resident of the Sterling Commons memory care. The place is very clean and the staff is helpful and attentive. They have lots of activities, plus the food seems very good. She's in a shared room but her roommate has moved onto a different level of care. They have variety, there are single rooms and double rooms, but there were no available single rooms at the time. They play games, do puzzles, they have musical entertainment that comes in, and they have service techs that come in. They take the residents on bus rides and field trips and they don't let them get off the bus so there's no chance of them getting lost. They also have church services, movie days, and they're growing a garden. My mom loves the food so I would rate them a five on that. I would rate them a four on activities, but just because I don't think they try and encourage them enough. Instead of asking her, I would like it if they just move her and tell her they have to do something, although I dont want to force anybody to do anything. Just a little more encouragement would help my mom focus instead of drifting off. The cost is expensive, but the place is very well-maintained and the staff is good.

The independent living here is in the back of their assisted living. It's in the same area, so you could still go there for meals. We liked it. What we didn't like was it was kind of removed from any store that my mother could walk to. She would have her own apartment there and her own kitchen. They had a schedule on the wall of what they have, including exercise classes every day. She is very active, so she would've liked that. It was a small and intimate environment. You'd be more likely to meet other people and be able to converse than any of the larger ones. It's just that the location wasn't close enough to any stores. We were very impressed with the lady in charge. She was very nice and I had a good feeling about her. She was competent, friendly, and easy going and not likely to be mad at somebody because they did something silly. The facility was not fancy, but it was clean and adequate.

Sterling Inn was too fancy. It was a little too ornate and kind of dressy for my mom. I can't imagine any place being nicer. It's just not her style. Some people there were moving in from two separate one-bedrooms to a two-bedroom. The rooms were fine. They're doing reconstruction there now and adding another building with more units. They had outside activities, bingo, and interactive things with the television. The staff was good and knowledgeable.

We have chosen Sterling Commons for my sister. I think they're wonderful. The bedrooms are very small, especially when you're sharing it with another party. However, as far as the care is concerned, Sterling Commons couldn't be better. The residents are well taken care of and well looked after. The food is good according to my sister. Out of ten, they're a 10. They have all kinds of activities that go on during the weekdays. They take bus rides and they play games. They have a schedule of daily activities available for family members and for the residents themselves. Sterling Commons is also a beautiful place. Compared to the other places that I looked at, I don't think there was anywhere else that could even begin to compare, so I think the value is a five.

I've been to Sierra Vista. When you walk in, it smells decent. The rooms were a little small but very clean. They ate all three meals in the dining hall, played Bingo, and had church services on Sunday and sing-alongs. The food was decent. The staff was very nice. There was a large living room and sitting room, plus a nice garden where a lot of rabbits live. It was very pleasant.
