My sister went to Discovery Village of Boynton Beach. She's very happy there and she's very active. They have a morning exercise program on the television, there's movies most evenings and some afternoons, and she plays bridge with some of the women there. She loves to walk and she's found a few people who like to walk as well. She's almost a vegetarian and she loves the food because they have, according to her, wonderful vegetables and fish. She's met a few nice people. She was reluctant to move there because she had come from a country club situation, but she has settled in and likes it very much. They're doing a huge renovation there. She moved into a small apartment, but it has a brand new kitchen, a microwave, a lovely new refrigerator and oven, and marble countertops. The bathroom has a brand new shower, brand new fixtures, and the floors are all brand new. They all have a little terrace outside and they're all brand new. It's quite nice, and it's moderately priced compared to some of the retirement homes. She's happy and she's a tough customer. If she's happy, we're happy. I only met the woman in charge of new people coming in and she was delightful, very helpful, she had us over for lunch there, and she explained everything. It was quite a very nice situation and now a neighbor's mother is going to be going there also. I had lunch a couple of times and the food was very nice. They're going through a huge renovation right now. The dining room is under construction. Everything's gonna be brand new and beautiful there once they're done.

We chose Discovery Village of Boynton Beach. The place was lovely and the food was outstanding. They offered wonderful amenities. It was heads and tails above the other places. There was a gym, a swimming pool, and they had nurses on-call if you needed one. Even though we're going into independent living, we would have access to many amenities similar to assisted living. They had a nice library and I saw a large 2-bedroom apartment. They had transportation service and concierge service. The price was about the same as the other places, but they offered much more. If needed, my husband could transfer into assisted living without having to move. The appliances in the apartments are stainless steel. The kitchen is being redone with beautiful granite countertops and things that you find in a much more expensive place. I had lunch there, and it was delicious. It was served by a waiter in uniform, and the eating facility looked like a fancy restaurant with tablecloths. They serve three meals a day, but you got to pick two of them. The staff I met was very nice.

I've been living in Brookdale North Boynton Beach for four years now. The service is very good, the people are nice, and entertainment is good. They do a good job. I would recommend Brookdale North Boynton Beach. The price is very high, but I'm happy to be here. Brookdale North Boynton Beach is a very pretty, clean building. They have a beautiful swimming pool and a very good bus service for people who don't have cars. They take them shopping every day. The food is better than most places, but it is institutional. The main course and the dinner get boring sometimes. Sometimes food is very good and sometimes it is very bad.

Brookdale North Boynton Beach is a very nice facility with nice personnel. They don't have much area around them. The apartment that they showed me had two lovely patios, but they both looked down into the parking lot of the nursing home behind, but the apartment was lovely. Their dining room was in a separate building and you had to walk across a covered walkway to get there. Their meals looked to me to be semi-formal and they had posts with ribbons on them in the dining room like you would line up to go into the movie. They had a beauty shop. It was a fairly upper middle class atmosphere. They have a little designated dog park where people can go to walk their dogs. The two ladies who took me on the tour were good. They impressed on me the fact that you had a place to go if you need to move from independent to assisted living.
