I visited Eustis senior Care. The tour was OK, but I just didnt like it. It was crowded, it was old, it was not clean, I just didnt feel like they were very well attended, and I didnt like the way it smelled. The second lady told me they didnt handle medications. The rooms were small, the place looked old and run-down. They have shared rooms.

Lake Ridge Village is a nice place. The people who work there are nice and the food is good; I just all have positive ratings. There's a dining room, laundry facilities, and a common area for eating, and they use it sometimes for entertainment. I visited several senior communities and this one is what I like best.

My uncle moved into Lake Ridge Village. I bought furniture and moved the furniture for him, and people were helpful at that point. We had a chance to eat with everybody, and it was great. It's a super place to live. The people who work there and the residents are friendly and helpful, the place is clean, the food is delicious, and they offer anything you can imagine. They have transportation, they have a bulletin board, and they have it all scheduled. One activity was a health fair where people lined up and threw a little disk over a dowel, it was a perfect amount of time for people in their 80s and 90s, the sun was out, there was a lot of laughing, and it was short enough that they could participate and go back and do something else.

Pendry Estate deserves a five star review. My mother has lived at Pendry for over two years. During that time she has received great care with kindness and compassion. We visit my mother regularly, giving us ample opportunity to observe the great care given to all of the residents. If you visit Pendry before lunch, you will probably find the owner, Mel Davidson, busy cooking a delicious meal, chopping vegetables while simmering magic on the stove. The large kitchen is in full view of the dining area, with nothing to hide. Pendry is a beautiful Spanish style home located on 11 acres of country setting. It is minutes from the new Publix Grocery in Sorrento, and just around the corner from Crystal Springs Elementary School and Santa's Tree Farm. The estate has eight private bedrooms, each with a large private bath, complete with a roll-in shower. Most of the rooms have a view of the heated pool, just beyond a large wrap-around porch. Mel encourages families and friends of the residents to take full advantage of the amenities Pendry has to offer, including the pool and brick barbeque on the screened porch. Pendry Estate is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a well run, immaculately kept home for your loved one.

Lake Ridge Village was amazing. We had an appointment manager, but she had an emergency meeting with the bookkeeper. The backup lady who lives there took us on the tour until she was free. We were there before and part of lunch, and it was wonderful, really homey, and very clean. We saw what they were serving. The menus were very senior-oriented, and the dining room was beautiful. I would have wanted to put my mom there, but you have to be mobile to be able to go to the dining room, so she didn't qualify. They had about 200 patients. There was a salon, a little store, and a small pharmacy inside. I was very impressed.

Lake Ridge Village was favorable. The amenities seemed adequate. They have a very nice dining room, a nice common area with televisions, a card room, a pottery shop, and a gym. I had a very nice meal. The host gave the rundown of some of the activities, and it seemed like it was a complete schedule for the people that live there. It's old and dated, but well-maintained.

I didn't like Lake Ridge Village at all. It smelled very strongly of disinfectant. It was a very old building, and it was rundown. The staff didn't seem to be on the same professional level as the other places I visited. The rooms were a good size, but the grounds weren't well kept.

I like Lake Ridge Village. It is great. It's clean and nice, and nobody is depressed. However, for our income, it isn't going to work out. From what I was told, they help you cook and clean. They have a group entertainment, like people who come in and play music. They have church, games, and activities, including movements with your hands and for your brain; that's pretty impressive. They were interacting with their clients a lot. We got to meet the cook; he's very nice. He's Puerto Rican, so we connected with that. The whole staff came out and met us one at a time, which was cool. They were very nice.

Lake Ridge Village was all on one floor, and it was beautiful. It had a beautiful dining room. It had a washer and dryer in each corner that you did not have to use quarters for because it was free! The staff would come and do your bed for you for free, they clean your room here or there, but it was like $2,000 a month. I can't afford it. We were offered lunch and we sat with somebody who lives there to give some feedback on the place. She was very helpful and very nice. After lunch, the manager came and showed us an empty apartment and it was lovely, beautiful, and just gorgeous. Everybody was nice. The people during lunch serve you, you didn't have to get up and go get it. All of that is included in your monthly dues. Every resident that lives there has a gray call button in case they fall or in case something happens to them. I asked about walk-in showers and they said they do have them, but it's not what you think. The back part of the tub is cut out on the side, so that you can step in there, and they don't have doors. I didn't care for that part of it at all. The food was tremendous. If you're sick, somebody will bring your meal up to you, but if it's more than three days and you cannot stay there, you have to go to a hospital. They won't let you be sick and stay there.

Medicaid is a national government-funded health plan that provides eligible low-income people with essential health benefits, such as primary care, hospital services and long-term care. In some states Medicaid also includes optional, state-specific benefits that cover basic dental and vision care services, prescription medications, physical and occupational therapy, hospice care and community-based nursing home diversion programs.
Eligibility for Medicaid coverage in Florida is determined by either the Social Security Administration or the Department of Children and Families. Seniors who meet the income and asset criteria benefits for Supplemental Security Income benefits automatically qualify for basic Medicaid coverage.
Qualifying for Medicaid
Seniors aged 65 and older who need long-term care services may qualify if they earn $2,313 or less per month and they own under $2,000 worth of countable assets, including all cash, stocks, bonds and most types of real estate.
Senior couples requiring long-term Medicaid services may qualify if they earn $4,262 or less per month and own under $3,000 in joint countable assets. If only one spouse needs coverage, the income of the healthy spouse is disregarded. The non-applicant spouse (community spouse) can receive income transferred from the applicant to bring the total monthly income of the community spouse up to a maximum of $3,161 per month to prevent spousal impoverishment.
Some specific assets are exempt under Medicaid rules. These assets include one vehicle, an irrevocable burial contract, household furnishings and personal items and a home owned and occupied by the Medicaid applicant and/or their spouse valued at no more than $585,000.
The community spouse may also keep half of the couple’s joint assets (in addition to Medicaid-exempt assets) worth a maximum of $126,420 under the community spouse resource allowance rule.
Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long-Term Care Program
The Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long Term Care program is managed care designed to reduce institutionalization rates among Medicaid-enrolled seniors who meet the clinical criteria for nursing home placement.
This program funds community-based services to help seniors in an assisted living facility. These amenities are assigned based on the needs identified by the Comprehensive Assessment and Review for Long-Term Care Services, a federally mandated preadmission screening program for all Medicaid participants who request enrollment in a long-term care plan.
Based on the needs identified by CARES, seniors who are deemed eligible to participate in the SMMC LTC may be provided with one or more of the following benefits:
Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefits and Housebound Allowance
Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefits and Housebound Allowance are two VA pension top-up programs that provide cash benefits that can be used towards the costs of assisted living.
Eligible veterans and survivors who have a chronic illness, disability or multiple disabilities unrelated to military service that impact their ability to care for themselves or leave their home can apply for one of these two programs.
For the Housebound Allowance, applicants must have a VA-assessed disability rating of 100% and have marked difficulty travelling outside of their residence.
Under the Housebound Allowance, the maximum total combined VA monthly pension payment is $1,378 for a single veteran, $1,728 for a veteran with one dependent and $925 for a single surviving spouse.
For Aid and Attendance, applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria:
